A friend of mine tried the service and received the missing transparencies... I think it costed something around 11 euros.... Just saying.... 2 Wessies on the way now ?? Are you CCyzing ?? And a Sea King then... Huh... What about the Kamov ?? then a Focke Achgelis Drake ?? Kinda like a Zeppelin with 2 rotors on the side... Sincerely... CC I think the kit is now oop but I will give it a try. I do have both the other two kits you mention, in fact the Kamov would make a good KUTA build as I have a Helix that stalled when my Father was very ill some years ago and because of the memories it invokes, I have not looked at it since. I have decals for an Indian Navy machine so it would make it a good fit for my passion for British and Commonwealth naval aviation. As for the, it just looks bonkers; so many would argue that it is a good fit for me! The real problem with that kit is how to get enough nose weight in to avoid a tail sitter. Depleted uranium anyone? Things might be a bit quiet over the next week as I have to take the Zeppelin display to the Poole Vikings show tomorrow and @general melchett's state visit began yesterday. Well, i say state visit, what I really mean is that he arrived in a state! Pretty much what we expected! Martian 👽 1 6
NAVY870 Posted April 11 Posted April 11 Question without notice MiLud Is it a set of transparencies from the 1/48 kit you desire? 2

It is indeed Steve, I'm kind of leaning towards using the spare Revell kit to do an RAN cab. I know what the sonar and winch looked like and if I can find out what the operator's positions looked like, I think the idea might be a goer. I'm pretty sure I can cobble some decals together for it. I will probably get arrested for criminal masochism for doing a second one but since when has that ever stopped me? Deranged of Mars 👽 8

Martian Posted April 15 Author Posted April 15 So, @general melchett's state visit (he left in a worse state than he arrived!) is now over and work can now be resumed on the project. The visit went entirely to the General's satisfaction despite him being nicked by the local constabulary on Saturday night when he was stopped for speeding up and down the local high street in his electric comodely , shouty, shouty Beah! top of at his voicylode. Oh folly! An attempt to breathalyse him failed when the mouthpiece of the intoximeter dissolved. Lady Melchett was cautioned for trying interfere with the course of justice after she tried delay the General's departure in a police van by insisting that the General had not yet had his botty wiped, all the while, waving a roll of regimental Izal toilet paper(Generals' bottoms for the wiping of) in their faces. Oh Yes, the helicopters. The HAS 3 has had the interior of the nose fitted, I used one of Hendie's parts here, although wanting to delay fitting of the delicate mesh over the nose intake until the last possible moment, I adapted it to fit the front of the fuselage instead. Lining the nose with some .30 x .30 plastic strip and gently sanding it back until Hendie's part fitted soon sorted that: Having secured further stocks of the aforementioned strip, work has begun on the cabin structure of the helicopter: I could not resist starting to put a Wessex HU.5 together. Not being able to decide between three different HU.5s I have decided to build at least two and to incorporate Hendie's engine set in one of them. I shall begin looking at the Sea King HC.4 very soon, probably over the Easter weekend. Thanks for looking. Goodlybylode. Martian 👽 8 7
corsaircorp Posted April 15 Posted April 15 Oh my god, poor @general melchett..... I hope he went well on the police station.... They surely recognize him as the hero he is.... Dissolving the breathalizer ?? Been there... Done that... Stunning ?? Great job on the chopper my Dear Alien.... I dully take some notes , still resisting the urge to start mine.... Sincerely. Martian 👽 No doubt the local constabulary are now breathing a sigh of relief at the General's departure. Not to mention probably receiving an extra boost in the pay pack for having earned hazardous duty pay for dealing with his visit. 5

I totally resemble those remarks. Having landed back at Melchett Towers all the worse for wear yesterday, I estimate we'll need at least six months to fully recover, such was the mayhem that ensued. The local constabulary were surprisingly understanding, especially after we offered to pay for the damage inflicted on the local plod station and traumatization of the station cat. A contribution to the Chief constable's favorite charity (his private pension pot) went a long way in avoiding the more serious charges of breech of the peace (not saying whose pieces were breeched.......don't slouch Darling!), loitering with intent and feline GBH (we misheard the game rules...yet again). I think Malcolm Lowe summed it up best when he descended on our table at the Poole Vikings show on Saturday and said ''In the grand tapestry of our merriment, we frolicked joyously, reveling in the delightful whimsies bestowed by our enchanting hosts! Goodly byelode loyal peeploders! Now all gatherymost to amuse it and have a tilty elbow or a nice cuffle-oteedee — oh yes!” Couldn't agree more...I think. The baffling thing is we fully intend to have a rematch later in the summer, the authorities, this end, will not be pre-warned and this time the station cat will undergo therapy before the event.. 9

general melchett Posted April 17 Posted April 17 Indeed, if you wouldn't mind. Have you got the necessary gear? if not, I'm sure the Memsahib could oblige. Always thought Spike played a magnificent Flatulent Valkyrie in F flat major. 5
Pete in Lincs Posted April 17 Posted April 17 That was my gear. He never gave it back. Mind you the money owed for the rental is still adding up. So one day I'm going to be almost rich. I think we settled on a half crown a fortnight. Less wear and tear. Stains extra. My spare Viking helmet is still in hock though. I'd better see if I can find the ticket. 5

Not much chance of Pete leaving the country as raspberry blowing is considered a criminal offence in most states; apart from Sealand ( https://sealandgov.org/?srsltid=AfmBOoqe-E7ikEBKXkpeSFXgg1Y_CqUgZmGnbmvy5SlBSQsYD-Ceuc73 ) where it has become the national sport. Martian Posted April 17 Author Posted April 17 OK, this is clearly going to be futile but I suppose I have to at least try and drag the thread back to some sort of sanity, however brief. I have completed the structure of the starboard side of the HAS.3 cabin and made a start getting Hendie's bits to fit. Luckily, I had cut the opening in the cabin floor for the sonar in the right place, although due to my previous ignorance of the existence of instructions, I did have to remove, exceedingly carefully, the sonar well walls from the pit head in Hendie's set. In order to ensure it aligned properly, I added two slivers of plastic strip to the cabin floor. When the pit head is slid between them, it is in the correct position. My initial impressions are that Hendie's parts are exceptionally detailed and well produced but repay very careful handling and a lot of dry fitting. Take your time, it will pay off big time. Note that the pit head is dry fitted at this stage. Martian 👽 10 2

Learstang Posted April 17 Posted April 17 Ah, a thread by the Martian hisself, with special guest appearances by his Generalship! And some actual modelling going on as a special added bonus! Mind if I leach on tag along? I'm certain I can add some rather dubious pearls of wisdom. Best Regards and All That, Jason 4
