Corsairfoxfouruncle Posted March 15 Posted March 15 (edited) Hey everyone … well I havent built a car in about 10 years but suddenly thought about doing this. Seeing as we do not normally do car builds I’m hoping this will get a little interest. My thinking is to use this definition and description. A "muscle car" generally refers to an American-made, or Foreign two-door family coupe with four seats standard or 2+2 arrangement, and a powerful engine. Ultimately designed for high-performance driving, often featuring a V8 engine and rear-wheel drive. However V8’s are not always used. Muscle cars are generally known for their straight-line speed and acceleration, rather than their cornering ability. Muscle car Group build definitive definition Hello Everyone… Well after talking it over with @Enzo the Magnificent and @TonyW we have decided this is the list. If it isn’t on this list it isn’t getting into the races. As a compensation there will be another build(s) covering Sports, Super, and Hyper-cars in 2027. Maybe we can even get Enzo to go for a Hot-Rod, Jalopy, and Rat-Rod build in 2028 as we need more non-military builds. As host I’m truly sorry if this culls some of the interested members out. However we needed to make a definition that covered these 93 cars. There are modern types and Australian types listed. Possibly others as I’ve only skimmed the list. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Muscle_cars "Muscle cars" The following 93 cars are in this category, out of 93 total. This list may not reflect recent changes. This list includes all generations of a specific type as well as some modern types. RevDWC Posted March 16 Posted March 16 I'll add my support for this. Last year I picked up a Monogram 70 Plymouth Roadrunner that will fit in nicely. Cheers, Justin. 2

vppelt68 Posted March 16 Posted March 16 You got my attention. Please sign me in on this. It'll be something with a lot of power, no brakes or steering to match that and the aerodynamics of a large brick. V-P 1 1
SnøMotion Posted March 16 Posted March 16 Even with my aversion to 1/25 scale, there are 1/24 scale options for this And, I see Revell are supposed to be releasing both a 1971 Plymouth Satellite GTX and 1964 Plymouth GTO in 1/24 later this year. The Satellite could be an interesting build, sign me up Martin 1
vppelt68 Posted March 16 Posted March 16 I have often wondered, why Monogram made the 426 elephant engine parts for the 1971 Cuda, but all the GTX:s, Roadrunners and Satellites have the 440 Six Barrel. In 1:1 scale it was a great engine, and probably better for street use than the Hemi, but you know those magic four letters always sell better, in any scale Unless we go and also buy the Cuda kit just to get the Hemi Genious! 2

Welcome aboard VP, my brother had a 1969 Charger R/T. It was a Dark blue and had the 440 with the six pack carb set up and a Hurst pistol grip 4 speed transmission. It was his dream car and he loved that car so much. Sadly he had to sell it after only two years. He was the kindest person and would give you the clothes off his back, never mean to anyone. Unfortunately too many people were jealous and keyed the paint or slashed his tires. It had to be jealousy I cannot figure any other reason and neither could he at the time. 4 hours ago, SnøMotion said: Even with my aversion to 1/25 scale, there are 1/24 scale options for this And, I see Revell are supposed to be releasing both a 1971 Plymouth Satellite GTX and 1964 Plymouth GTO in 1/24 later this year. I would even consider an R/C car with the correct body, markings, and details. R/C cars to me are massive kits themselves so count. 2
Marklo Posted March 17 Posted March 17 Hmm wouldn’t mind a Shelby Cobra or a seventies Mustang so I’ll give it a go… 1 1

Expensive yes but still kits. 1
Keeff Posted March 17 Posted March 17 A car type build eh? Let me see ..... total number of potential victims in the not-a-stash-stash...... ........ None! But let me think ..... do I like big gas guzzling tyre shredding American cars? You bet! Go on then, add me to the list! Keith ☺️ 3 1

Corsairfoxfouruncle Posted March 18 Author Posted March 18 According to some of my research I’ve seen the U.K., Canada, Australia, South Africa, and of all places Argentina mentioned. Argentina is impressive as I never thought about their auto industry. I guess that just shows me I can still learn. Every one of these countries have some form or variation of indigenous Muscle car built in their country. So that would open up all of these and possibly more Nations as options for types. 2
ColonelKrypton Posted March 19 Posted March 19 Sounds like a good choice for a group build, variety being the spice of life and all that. please add me to the list. cheers Graham 1

Blacque Jacque Posted March 21 Posted March 21 Request for comment. I'd love to join in, I'm just a little unsure of what qualifies given my current stash. As I'm always trying to do something just a little different, using a US made platform is just too easy right ? The following are out based on my interpretation of the rules ? GT40 - Because it's a dedicated sports car obviously. Datsun Z432 -only 2 seats , shame I think it fits the ethos of a "muscle car" 300Z - again, only2 seats Lancia Stratos - 2 seat but designed for rallying from the outset Eligible ? 69 Camaro Z28 - Pretty sure this meets the criteria but it's too easy to use this one, right ? 67 GTO - again, too easy an option ? Porsche 928s - V8 2+2 rwd sports coupe. Audi Ur Quattro - 2 door, 4 seater & wasn't originally "designed" for rally use, ie; not a homologation special ? Celica XX 2800 (Supra 2.8i in the UK) - 2+2 rwd sports coupe. I'm very much a muscle car fan & could easily take the Camaro or GTO option, but I also like to be just a little outside the norm if I can ? Feel free to shoot me down if I'm wildly off the mark here. 2

Feel free to shoot me down if I'm wildly off the mark here. You're not wildly off the mark sir, you're in fact correct about the GT40, Datsun’s/Nissan’s, and the Lancia. However the second list is definitely all good, honestly I never thought about them but the Audi Quattro and Celica would qualify as they were both available for general public purchase. Though the Quattro is all wheel drive and more for road use with turns vs straight line speed runs ? I will allow them though as they do meet the basic outlines. I have fine tuned the descriptions to include cars like the Quattro. Oh BTW welcome to the build you're on the list. Edited March 21 by Corsairfoxfouruncle 1
Black Knight Posted March 21 Posted March 21 I have an '85 Camaro Z28 sitting ready to build; for this? I accidentally bought two kits at SMW '23 #1 son has an '85 Camaro Z28 and he asked me to look out for a kit. I did and bought it Next day I spotted another kit and bought it as well, forgetting I'd bought one on the Saturday! 1 6
Blacque Jacque Posted March 21 Posted March 21 Having re-read the tags, nothing except the American iron (of my current stash) is eligible based on the date restriction ? I am not asking for a bending of the rules, far from it, I do not want to cause any furore, I know how these things can get out of hand quickly. Even my E24 M635 is from 1976, the 928 being 1978. An MGB V8 might be interesting though ? Or maybe a Pantera ? I'd love to find a kit of the ISO Grifo or a Jensen Interceptor. 2

One of my favorites was a former Illinois State Police interceptor. Bought it from them direct and had to wait while they removed the lights and radios. It had an 1988 Corvette V-8 with some extra work done. I had a lot of fun with that car welcome to the build. 2 minutes ago, Blacque Jacque said: Having re-read the tags, nothing except the American iron (of my current stash) is eligible based on the date restriction ? If You can demonstrate a car that meets the basic guidelines it will qualify. I have made allowances for the modern cars. So any cars from the later 70’s, 80’s, and 90’s that meet guidelines would be ok as well. Id like a Pantera as well but don't they only have two seats ? Speaking of Jenson’s I live in the burbs of Chicago and about 8 months ago I saw one broken down on the interstate highway 5 miles from my house. 3
Blacque Jacque Posted March 21 Posted March 21 Thanks for clarification. At this point I will nominate my Porsche 928 until such time as we are obliged to declare a specific entry. Meanwhile I will also continue to search for something else "interesting" 3
