robw_uk Posted February 23 Posted February 23 In a first for me I am going to try a MaK kit. The old Nitto Gustav... Going to add a bit of extra, some detail, some joint padding and maybe something the cockpit.... Slow start bug it's started 9
robw_uk Posted February 26 Author Posted February 26 One leg done,.going to texture these quite heavily (rear lower leg and the 2 covers I need to add later will be lightly textured) 7
Hunter Rose Posted February 26 Posted February 26 Big fan of the Gustav suit! Will be following with interest 1
Pete in Lincs Posted February 26 Posted February 26 Kreiger! Works for me. In case you were wondering, the Two main suit parts are a modified Hughes 500 Fuselage. Other greeblies may also be involved. The two oval windows may take some fettling. Dry fitting is recommended. The boots should be weighted IIRC. If the leg joints aren't tight he will fold over. Guitar wire can replace plastic tubes. And you can run riot with weathering. Enjoy!

Enjoy! thanks for the comment - I have already glued one foot - there is no mention in the instructions on weight - but it feels quite stable (and I will probably have this one quite upright). And on the Hughes 500 for upper half - thats interesting. I am probably going to do that light texture (it fits with the kit rather than the sourece) - and yes the side glass looks like it will be awkward to fit and then mask ahead of painting.... 18 hours ago, Hunter Rose said: Big fan of the Gustav suit! Yg Models Posted March 9 Posted March 9 (edited) yes, no official color scheme likes gunpla (i always feel boring to see modelers share same gunpla as per official scheme, and they like to criticize others not follow it ) on ma.k. we like to paint powered suit in any camo/style we prefer. for me, i like to use contrast color for internal. e.g. dark tone on armor, then cockpit would be light color.😉 Edited March 9 by Yg Models 1

shortCummins Posted March 19 Posted March 19 looking good, I like the raised lettering on the rear of the suit, that's a nice touch by whoever designed the kit rgds John(shortCummins) 1 1
robw_uk Posted March 20 Author Posted March 20 Heavy texture applied... Need medium on the main body the light (or more likely more medium) on the arms 5
robw_uk Posted March 21 Author Posted March 21 Hopefully the different levels of texturing will be descernable once paint is on 6
robw_uk Posted March 25 Author Posted March 25 Build complete. Not sure when I will get this primed,.maybe at the weekend 7
Yg Models Posted March 25 Posted March 25 (edited) the shoulder plate shall attach to chest, not arm? so won't rotate with arm? 🤔 Edited March 25 by Yg Models 1
robw_uk Posted March 25 Author Posted March 25 The shoulder plate is moulded on to the figure in the NITTO boxing...
The Mandalorian Posted March 25 Posted March 25 Great stuff - I've bought in half a dozen MK kits in recent weeks for a complete change of pace. Wish you well with yours Rob! 2
