HK-500 Posted February 8 Posted February 8 The Riley is finished and I'm taking care of its display box at the moment , then when I manage to squeeze out some free time I'm frying my brains out to elaborate a method in order to build the chassis of my next project , the Morgan Super sports. All this intense thinking led me to believe that it would be a good idea to share and old build of mine : a nice cozy shelter for my Lotus Seven ( 1/14 scratch build with a LOT of errors and discrepancies ). I spent a whole morning scouting for cool ideas ( either real garages or models builds ) and came up with a drawing of my main guidelines I then gathered bits, pieces and images of ads cut in magazines to create the centerpiece and its companions ( stool , tire inflator, tool box, floor jack, paint and oil cans ) See you 😉 6 1
HK-500 Posted February 10 Author Posted February 10 Hello guys ! On the left you can see the small wheels and the supporting beams for the floor jack , and the used metal plate to create its chassis and on the right side the future air tank for the inflator ( inspired by a very old model seen on the net ) All the ads and signs were glued on styrene sheet See you😎 3
RossFMJ Posted February 10 Posted February 10 Will it be big enough for the whole collection or just the Lotus? It'll be interesting to see this as it goes on.
HK-500 Posted February 10 Author Posted February 10 In fact you'll see that the Seven is tucked neatly just in front of the bench : I wanted to keep it easy to place on my shelves ( hence the title of the topic😉)
HK-500 Posted February 11 Author Posted February 11 (edited) And here we go again ! In the red clamp is the compressing part of the inflator and just in front the alu plate in which I'll cut the colling fins Okay , now the floor jack is ready to be weathered , the air tank almost done, and the compressor waiting for the fins Seen from under, the tiny standing pods of the inflator Inflator ready for its hose , in the clamps are the "paint tube" and the electric plug , just in front three bits of bamboo to emulate spray paint cans. HK-500 Posted February 12 Author Posted February 12 Hello guys😉 On the waiting list to the paint booth : three "spray paint cans" , a pot of paint, a carboy of water, a support plate and... a sea shell (?) Spray cans are almost ready Inflator ready for service Stay tuned😎 4
HK-500 Posted February 13 Author Posted February 13 Hey guys😉 The stool looks like this Then I prepared the handles and lids for the oil cans Made with teakwood and thick plywood , they are going to the paint booth with the tool box The container of floor paint is finished See you😎 5
HK-500 Posted February 15 Author Posted February 15 Good evening , fellows😉 You need a Shell advertising panel ? Get a shell and a panel !😜 ( and some paint , o'course ) Then you glue the shell on the panel The tool box is ready Next mission : get a decent imitation of a brick wall : it's cardboard time ! Stay tuned😎 6
HK-500 Posted February 17 Author Posted February 17 Thank you , guys , and good evening : here's the update😉 Here are the cans of oil and cooling liquid ( I cut small parts of an international warranty leaflet to have very small print ) The wall is done , there's even a nice sunset sky to be seen through the windows And after almost an hour of brushing and sweating , I went to this point Stay tuned😎 6
HK-500 Posted February 19 Author Posted February 19 Hello fellows😉 The door is locked now So is the metal sink And the bottom grille Then I did a first try Ok , workbench ( and a small shelf above ) , broom and dust shovel , and a rag to wipe your grubby hands See you😎 7
HK-500 Posted February 23 Author Posted February 23 Good evening , everyone😉 As you may have noticed , I decided not to "overload" the garage layout ( so no lifting bridge , tools or boxes of parts everywhere ) but I wanted a proper entry ( as in "proper garage door") and that part of corrugated alu was perfect for the mission assigned ( it's used in roofing jobs to joint two different plans ) Then it's the electric outlet/switch block and a drawer for the workbench And the "entry" is finished ( I found that little chain to emulate the system sometimes found on these rolling shutters ) Stay tuned😎 4
HK-500 Posted February 25 Author Posted February 25 Good evening guys😉 and it's finished And recent close-ups 5 4
