Ju52 no.2, this was actually not purchased but was won in a competition held by I think Scale Aircraft Modelling/Modeller? way back, thus the reason for having two in the stash.

I chose to open this machine up, all doors and the forward fuselage. For this model I used the forward fuselage detail from the Aires engine set and the Aires cockpit detail set. I was thinking of trying to find replacement engines other than the Aires set, when I saw on Scalemates a 3D Ju52 engine set made by Raymoco it was a bit pricy but it included cowlings, so I ordered a set. Pleased to say I was very impressed with this set, certainly a great improvement over the Aires offering!

Again I used the Montex masking set for all the national insignia and home made masks for the code letters.

The Luftwaffe 4 colour camouflage has always attracted me, so the machine I chose to represent wore 62/63/71/65 plus 04 cowlings, elevators, wingtips and rudder.

I had intended to put some cargo in the fuselage but alas it hasn't happened yet! Again as per my other 'Tante Ju' this was  a fairly easy build.

The machine represented is from IV. Gruppe Stab/KG.z.b.VI, Balkans, May 1941.

Fantastic build! One of the best of this craft I have seen. What paint did you use? Thanks for sharing.

I like both your JU52s but this one is especially impressive all opened up.

Maybe one day you can add the cargo just to guild the Lilly.

Thanks for sharing them both.

I used my usual AK Real Colours, excellent paints in my own personal opinion.

That explains why it looks scale. I love that stuff myself.

Very impressive! The 4 colour scheme looks great as do the sprayed on markings. What is your approach for preventing paint bleed?

:ditto: @spruecutter says. Great build but how did you cope with the painting?  Those corrugated panel must have been the devil to get that good

Many thanks for your positive comments. The paint scheme was  masked using good old Tamiya masking tape. The corrugations were wide enough to use a wooden cocktail stick to make sure the tape was adhering in between the corrugations, time consuming but well worth it. I also sprayed at a 90 degree angle were possible, the Montex masks certainly need to be sprayed at this angle to prevent paint bleed.
