andyh59 Posted January 29 Posted January 29 This is the original 26 year old pressing of the Ju52 kit, which has been in my stash since purchasing it from ED Models in 1999. It has been taken out of the stash numerous times, looked at then returned to the shelf. Then I thought to myself if I don't build it now I probably never will. As I had another Ju52 in my stash I decided to build both of them ( see my other RFI). Armed with the Aires Engine set + CMK cockpit set + Montex masking set, I set about the build. Everything went along pretty well for a kit of this age. Then I got to the Aires engine set, no problem putting the engines together but when it came to fitting them in the cowlings!!!! The engines were slightly smaller in diameter than the cowlings, so followed adding strips of plasticard inside the cowlings to get the engines to fit. To my mind this wasn't completely successful as I feel the engines protrude out of the cowlings more than they should? The remainder of the build was pretty much straight forward. This kit represents the 3mg4e version, so colour schemes are fairly limited so when I saw the Montex masking set with the two snake decorated Ju52s of ZG26 my mind was made up. I chose the machine with the yellow tipped tail snake. Decals were really out of the question with the corrugated surfaces, so I set about spraying all the markings on over the 70/71/65 camouflage and was quite pleased with the result. Although I did have some problems with the snake masks, not sure whether it was my own doing or the masks!! The machine represented is from 3./ ZG.26, Bad Zwischenahn, Germany. Thanks for looking, please see my other Ju52 RFI. Cheers Andy 40 2 5 2
Longhorn Posted January 29 Posted January 29 That's a fantastic looking build - the painted on markings look great. 1
georgeusa Posted January 29 Posted January 29 Just saw your other build with all the doors and panels open and was very impressed with that build and finish. Now I get to look at this one with the painted snake markings and am even more impressed. Two great looking Ju 52s. You have really done this old Monogram/Revell kit justice. Thanks for sharing both. 1
