Faire Battle [Azur 1/72]

Hi all

With the end of my F-4B, it's time to start a new kit
This time, I choosed a recent kit with the Fairey Battle from Azur

 

I choosed the Fairey Battle MkI "Poles in UK"

 

 

I didn't choosed the schemes yet

Either I made the artbox plane or etheir I made a plane during the Battle of France even if the box didn't covert a such plane

Hi all
I almost finished the paint of the cockpit
But I have a question
In the instructions the wheels bays should be painted in aluminium
But one some surviving planes I see it's look like an interior green
Anybody know the exact colors of the wheels bays ?

I just followed the instructions.  

 

My reference books seem to show aluminium in the wheel wells and bomb cells, but that’s not conclusive as they may be photos of early production or even prototype airframes. I’d be wary of comparing with surviving Battles because I think almost all of them have been reconstructed from different wrecked aircraft.

I agree with none of the survivor can tell we witch colors where the wheels bays

 

I finded a photo of a Blenheim destroyed during campaign of France who show the wheels bays in gray green

I wish to beleave that for the Battle it is the same finish

I finished the interior

I started it with the grey green interior
I used the Gunze H312

 

For the cockpit the details level is sufficiant for the scale

 

 

 

I painted the panel instrument in black and use only one part of the decals instruments
I think it should be more thin for the white. This is why I use only one part of it

 

 

Some details come on the wings

 

Now I can paint the interior fuselage with the little details

 

I finished the paint with the last element such as the rear gun station and the radiator

 

 

It is the time to add all elements together
For the front parts, no probleme
For the rear parts you must adjust and cut some parts suchs as the top of rear bulkhead and the radio to long for the fuselage

 

 

But after that you can close the fuselage

Next steps : The add of the wings

 

Fuselage and wings joins very well
You must use filler only in little part

 

The radiator cover have only a little gap who need filler
The only subject of attention is the rear parts of the canopy
I choosed to present this part open. You have two solution to add it.

 

- by the behind of the central part but if you wish this solution you must glue parts at the end

- by the upfront but it is difficult to add it on the central part

I didn't choosed yet witch solution I will use

The Azur/Frrom seams to be a very good kit with thiny detail exterior surfaces and a good detail on internal parts.

What do you think about it?

I can't tell you if the kit is correct in his forms.
I'm not a specialist of the plane

May be the interior should be more detailled or better engenired. But it is not a "tamygawa" kit and details are very well for the scale.

I can tell you only that it is a pleasant kit to build with no major defaults.
All parts fit well together and you must work only on some point. far away  that previous kits like the Breguet Alize.
 

I built the SMB2 from the same brand and like the Battle it show great progress of Azur/Frrom

I can only recommended this kit even for a beginners (with some little attention)

After several weeks without progress, I decided to paint my battle

 

I painted the intrado a first time but my spraygun decided to spit on the last layer
I started again to paint the black

on the extrado I used the Gunze H72 and H73

 

When I finished the paint I see that the spotlight windows pay more attention with a joint needing a little filler.

It's too late unless I restart all the paint

I wish to made the L5226 serial code QT - Q from the 142 squadron

The variations on the colors is really striking too, absolutely the opposite of monotone. You definitely have a signature style with the shading, the way an artist would have.

A little update

I think the last before the end this week

A the program :

Paint of the serial. I wanted to use the decals but finally I painted the serial
I added the leg suspension. It is not very easy.
I painted and added the wheels
Finished the exhaust and unmasked the canopy

That's looking very nice with the paint on. The kit looks pretty good, but it's a shame they moulded the bomb doors sitting below the wing underside.
