Warwolf Posted January 28 Posted January 28 Hi everyone, With Nuremberg Toy Fair officially underway, I've been given the go ahead by Luke at Revell to share this top secret project! I was honoured to be given the opportunity by Luke, to build the very first test build of the new Meteor in 32nd by Revell. This is the first full 3D printed build up of what will become the kit later in the year, hence why the surface may look a little rough, as it is 3D printed and not plastic injection moulded yet. Luke was over the moon when he collected it as this is the culmination of hundreds, if not thousands of hours of work, to finally be able to see it built up for the first time. This is now on display at Nuremberg Toy Festival over the next few days for the modelling world's eyes to view. I'll post some more detailed photos in the coming days on my Facebook page linked below so that people can see the amazing detail on the engine, wheels bays and more. Thanks again to Luke and Revell for this and I can't wait to crack on with the other builds that will soon fly my way! Disclaimer - This is as finished as Revell wanted it... in Primer to show overall shape, size and details only. This is the very first full 3D print with no plastic parts and so surface detail is not final. https://www.facebook.com/jamesbuildsandmore/ 54 2 7
Pete in Lincs Posted January 28 Posted January 28 Wow! It looks pretty darn fabulous to me. I love that shot of the Pilot. I always liked the Meteor. I once discovered a dismantled one in a hardened shelter in RAF Scamptons Bomb Dump. Talk about barn finds! Wonder if it's still there... I shouldn't imagine that this will be a cheap model, but it looks like it's well worth saving up for. Or for sending a letter to Santa. Thanks for posting 1 1
Doc D Posted January 28 Posted January 28 Well that’s another to add to the list… the pilot figure looks very well sculpted 1 1
geedubelyer Posted January 28 Posted January 28 Agree on the pilot figure. If the plastic version looks that good it'll be amazing. I wonder if the pilot sprue could be bought separately 🤔 1
bobsyouruncle Posted January 29 Posted January 29 Looks great. That pilot does look awesome and I’m hoping this’ll be the way to go for others to follow. 1
Warwolf Posted February 1 Author Posted February 1 If anyone would like to look at some closer look images, please head to my page and see my latest post! https://www.facebook.com/jamesbuildsandmore/ Here's a few of the images to entice you! 5 1
neilspen Posted February 1 Posted February 1 If the final kit enables one to build one looking as good as that then it would be money well spent and very popular. The pilot figure looks super, they would do well to release him separately. Good pilot figures in that scale and period are hard to find. Super work. 1

One early with the skull cap and this one with a bone dome! 4
tony.t Posted February 2 Posted February 2 (edited) I am so looking forward to this. Like JohnT's, my Fisher combo is due for retirement Would love to see the bone-dome pilot figure included x 2 in the Hunter T.7 boxing. Tony Edited February 2 by tony.t edit 1 1

My first post on this topic was rather tongue in cheek and my immediate thought was quite "ain't it typical! Just as I get all I need pulled together to produce an F-8 with Fisher conversion and Profimodeller engine set etc etc" So do I really need this new kit then? After looking at the photos I have to say this is shaping up for a step change improvement on what I could do even with all my bells and whistles. I agree wholeheartedly with @neilspen on the pilot figure (s). If replicated in the IM end product it rivals some quality resin figures you can buy. I can see guys who don't use pilots in their model making putting these onto auction sites or passing them to friends. I for one am rubbish at figures so avoid pilots in my cockpits but given this quality potential I might be forced to have a go. There is very positive feedback on this so please pass it back to Luke as encouragement. It also occurs to me that this F-8 could be the basis for a number of conversions somewhat similar to what Paul Fisher was doing. E.G. Trainers and Nightfighters. Perhaps a step too far for Revell but not too far for the AM people and that means additional sales of the base kit too. Well done Revell from me here. Oh and I didn't once mention 1/32 Dornier 17 did I Revell? Oh - just did - sorry Well not really 3
GrahamS Posted February 3 Posted February 3 If the IM pilot is as good as this one, I’d buy it just for that! Graham 1

JohnT Posted February 8 Posted February 8 Now on pre-order at Jadlam . They are saying the first run is for 3,000 kits. I wonder how long for that to sell out then? Fairly quick I'd imagine. I've pre-ordered one so its down to 2999 now 2
