The two Roy's box art was quite inspiring to many who took up model making.

I have a book about marine art with many examples within it of the privately commissioned marine paintings done by Roy Cross. They are absolutely superb and one can see Roy's love and intimate knowledge of the subject in the book. Much more highly detailed than the box set pictures.

Well, as the man himself said, he got paid £20-40,000 for the maritime paintings by collectors, and £100-150 for each Airfix box art. A bit of a no-brainer!
