wimbledon99 Posted March 14 Author Posted March 14 Blimey, times flies! Not done too much as I've been laid up for a couple of weeks but back at the bench now. Here's what has been done: 5
wimbledon99 Posted March 14 Author Posted March 14 Thanks Col I looked at the canopy today and there's a rather nasty mold line up the middle. I've not polished a 'gold' clear part before so just hoping it looks OK after!! The rear requires the clear part so I'll try out on the spare 'gold' one. Planning to use that, and the clear main canopy, to mask the cockpit when painting as I plan to have an 'open office' 1
Col. Posted March 14 Posted March 14 Absolutely definitely show off all that lovely cockpit detail Nigel. From what I understand the actual plastic used to mold the canopy is tinted rather than a coating to the kit parts so should polish up fine. 1
wimbledon99 Posted March 15 Author Posted March 15 OK - It's done. Heavy line This always makes me nervous All OK though 4
wimbledon99 Posted March 16 Author Posted March 16 Thanks Gents. And thanks for the heads up re. the canopy, Col. I’d worried about a clear stripe after removing the mold line!
Thom216 Posted March 17 Posted March 17 That's a great looking tail! And some nice clean up of the canopy. 1
wimbledon99 Posted March 17 Author Posted March 17 Thanks Thom I’m hoping the tail will pop with a wash. The canopy tested my nerves a tad!! 1

wimbledon99 Posted March 26 Author Posted March 26 Thank you, Col Small update. Chair delivered to the office. I need to get a move on with the rest!! 4

I wondered how cool it would be to have a decomm'd jet seat at the bench but then thought it wouldn't be too comfortable. Steve has me wondering again now!! 1

Bang seats are usually surprisingly comfortable, or at least the few I'm parked myself in were, it's the price of decom'd ones I find uncomfortable 2
wimbledon99 Posted March 28 Author Posted March 28 Conscious of time, I tackled the Canopy today, painted and lacquered all the long pointy things, and washed the tail (leaving a little 'grime') whilst doing the canopy 4
wimbledon99 Posted March 28 Author Posted March 28 Thanks Col. I'm pleased I'm having a go at a 1:32 jet but I can't say it's my favorite scale. 1:72 & 1:48 are much more fun!. I feel like years could be spent on one the these beasts! 1

I feel like years could be spent on one the these beasts! The opportunities to pack in more detail can be too tempting but the shelf space they take up balances the effort taken on one 32nd scale or five 72nd scale kits 1
wimbledon99 Posted April 2 Author Posted April 2 Blimey, these are mini kits on their own; more decals than used on most models!!!! 1 1
wimbledon99 Posted April 2 Author Posted April 2 I'm running out of small parts so need to think about getting some paint on the fuselage. I'd love to be able to remove the UC but this kit is build around it!! Need to look at the best way of masking up. Anyone have have any tips for this one? I did see someone using clingfilm!
wimbledon99 Posted April 4 Author Posted April 4 Well, it wasn't pretty, but it worked!! Went into the kitchen drawer in search of cling-film, and came out with tin-foil 2
Col. Posted April 5 Posted April 5 Yip, that worked, nicely done Nigel and a good tip for future use 1
