andyh59 Posted January 25 Posted January 25 I bought this kit when it first appeared 10 years ago, since when I added the Eduard photoetch sets, the Look instrument panel, Aires resin wheels, Vector corrected resin tail, Falcon canopy and nose transparency, finally several decal sets. I did get the Brassin gun set as well but it was pretty useless it seemed to be under scale to my mind and was discarded. The kit itself was good except for the incorrect tail plane and the rather thick nose transparency. I built ICM's Do215 which uses the same clear sprues (almost) as the Do17 and found the thickness of the glazing for the nose very difficult to disguise! I also had to add the bracing to the cowlings to replace the strange items ICM supply with the kit. Other than that the build was straightforward, I did reinforce the u/c leg joints with wire as I thought the joints might be a bit weak. After buying decal sets for this kit I ended up using the kit decals which went on extremely well. I used AK Real Colours for the 70/71/65 finish. Machine represented was from 1./KG.2 'Holzhammer' Iotniska Tatoi, Greece, May 1941. Cheers Andy 34 1
modelling minion Posted January 26 Posted January 26 Lovely looking "Flying Pencil", I've built two of these so far and found them to be nice kits. 1
Charles68 Posted January 27 Posted January 27 That is beautiful canopy work my friend! I can appreciate how hard it was to get that very crisp ,clean finish. I'm a big fan of ICM and have a few more planned for 2025. I just finished their 1/48 P51D and have a HE111 that I can't wait to start. 1
