1/48 Airfix Sea Fury with Barracuda Studios Engine, engine cowl, exhausts and Spinner plus diamond and block threaded wheels and the sublime Gear bay. Model is finished in MRP paints and Barracuda Studios decals. Also included in the build - Eduard Exterior PE, Aims Oleo locks and FAA wheel Chocks and finally the CMK 500 Lb bombs (long tail) and racks designed for the Eduard Tempest kits. Oriental Stork is from a company called Evemodel.

Note: the kit comes with main gear bay covers with the tear-drop fairing molded on; I have yet to see such an example in Korean war photos. The gear cover is also provided without this detail - obviously - in the Eduard exterior PE set however the inner frame work does not come with the front shield that you will never see missing from an in-service aircraft - so remove kit teardrop or add shield to the inside of the PE - one or the other! Thanks

This is a fine build of the Sea Fury and the stork is a clever and imaginative addition to show off the model.  Thanks for sharing.

A marvellous little diorama!

I loved the stork, it seems such a lovely little interlude in the middle of war.

I have this kit in the stash, my father served on HMS Ocean (yeoman of signals) during its Korean deployments so in 1/48 I’ll be building this and a hobbycraft sea fury to represent the type which flew off Ocean when he was aboard during the Korean War,  together with firefly mk. 1 and 5.

I have the barracuda cowlings, tyres, and Eduard etch sets so your massively useful hints on the undercarriage are - massively useful!

I’ve also got the barracuda decals for Schmoo Ellis’ plane, and the hobbycraft kit has decals for Hoagy Carmichael’s plane.

I’ve done the two sea furies , fireflies, and the mig 15 in 1/72, I’ve the dragonfly in both 1/72 and 1/48 which was the SAR helicopter on Ocean at the time.

Wonderful modelling, John, and the stork really adds to the realism of the whole vignette. I would also like to know how you made the canopy cover.

Cheers,

Regarding the Evemodel Oriental Stork - just to let you know, as I received a question about it, - the model part is 33mm tall = 5' 2" and the tallest adult is approx 4' 9" but it was the closest model of one I could find. I think I will reduce the legs a little - it might help the overall appearance. Anyway there you go

Not my area but really excellent! Have I said 'not my area'? The Sea Fury is a beautiful fighter! I thought storks are nearly extinct - good that you found one 😀.
