MajorCalloway Posted January 21 Posted January 21 Does it have one? Does it deteriorate over time? I have a bottle that I bought getting on for 20 years ago but it seems okay 🤷♂️ thanks Darren
jenko Posted January 21 Posted January 21 I bought 3 bottles when they said they were stopping it. They are kept in a cool cupboard in the dark. Seems OK. Air is the usual culprit for deterioration I am led to believe. Dick 1
MajorCalloway Posted January 21 Author Posted January 21 Okay, I’m trying it. It’s only on a 1:72 revell albatros which I’m using to get back into modelling and practise brush painting. But I’m liking how it’s looking.
MajorCalloway Posted January 23 Author Posted January 23 I can report that the 20 year old Klear worked perfectly well.
dogsbody Posted January 23 Posted January 23 I don't remember how old this is. In 2016, I had a small water flood in my basement, where my hobbyroom is. The cleanup company boxed up everything and put it into storage while sheetrock repairs were done. On return, as I opened all the boxes and put everything back on the shelves and table, I saw the the lid on this bottle was cracked quite badly. I took the lid off and covered it with kitchen clear wrap, held on with a small rubber band. It's still liquid! Chris 1
ckw Posted January 23 Posted January 23 When I resumed modelling after a long break, I found a half empty bottle of future along with a bunch of half completed kits. It was at least 30 years old, and worked fine. Mind you it had been stored in a cool dark place. Cheers Colin
Mr T Posted January 25 Posted January 25 I am using a bottle that must be about ten years at least. It has been stored in the dark and out of the sun when in use. It still is fine. Not sure what the stuff is, but I am assuming it must be pretty inert.
Noel Smith Posted January 25 Posted January 25 I have a carton of Klear that I have been using off and on for over 25 years. The remainder looks slightly cloudy but it still works fine.
Ray_W Posted January 25 Posted January 25 Still good -15 years in original bottle. Plus another purchased at the same time not used and still appears in good condition. Like others kept in cool dark cupboard. Where I keep all my paints,
