Tigerausfb Posted January 20 Posted January 20 I was reminiscing with a friend just now as this reminded me of when the USAF lost a missile after it dropped off a pylon in the Cambs area. This would have been in the 90s and I don't recall them ever finding it. Does anyone else remember this? 1
Alan P Posted January 20 Posted January 20 Mention made of the pylon, but not the fact that it had a Litening pod attached to it 🤔 2

Troffa Posted January 21 Posted January 21 I don't think anyone has been "Lucky" for the stores not to hit them, you'd just have been very unlucky for it to have done so- in fact, it would have been like being struck by Litening 🙂 I'll get my coat. So, selective jettison on the Typhoon,🔻 does the whole pylon go? Or is this a mechanical failure of some 20 year old inserts? Off to PPRune for a nosey. 4
kiseca Posted January 21 Posted January 21 Pilot wanted a closer look at something but instructed the wrong piece of equipment to "zoom in on that field" 3

junglierating Posted January 21 Posted January 21 Im suprised that the ERUs had carts fitted ...i know winder Laus were without carts....forward firing store and Im pretty sure CBLS were wirelocked empty since the explosive store was on the ERU 118 (?)memory fades. So since the pod is not an explosive store I wonder how it fell off unless it wasnt crutched down properly?. No experience of Typhoon though 2
