Hi folk's,not really a modern jet modeller and originally thought about just grabbing a cheap 1/72 kit for this GB,Luke my son whose thrown his hat in the ring with his PAF entry has

given me a Hasegawa 1/48 kit for this GB he has interestingly got Ukrainian decals in the stash but also there are other schemes in the spares so I'll decide before the |GB starts.

The Hasegawa kit is a good one Steve. I'm looking forward to watching your progress with it :speak_cool:

Can't finish if you don't start Steve and you're in good company here. We'll keep you encouraged ;)

Hi folk's this is the kit in question, usual glossy hard plastic which Hasegawa is known for.

Afternoon Folk's dug out the decal's and assembled the bang seat ready for a start.I have said a few times I just don't really like Hasegawa's hard plastic but a dry run of the main parts shows a good fit,the U/C

parts lack the crispness of the rest of the parts and there's a distinct colour difference between the sprue and all the others you do get both a clear and tinted canopy.

Evening folk's been of a few days so had a little bench time, there was a build of Esci's F-16 cockpit in Airfix magazine which was a handy reference.Intake went together very well. just needs a touch of

filler at the mouth.

Today I fitted the cockpit and before I knew it the main assembly is done.

Evening folk's.primed the airframe gray upper but used white on the undersides so the wheel bays don't need painting.

Nice project!

If you build a Ukrainian F-16, those were modified to F-16AM / MLU standard 20+ years ago. As a minimum you could add the 4 prominent "birdslicer"  antennae in front of the cockpit  one of the most characteristic features of the MLU.

Cheers!

Morning folk's,thats the last pieces of the U/C fitted ready for paint and the inner doors and wheel hubs painted I think I might spray a gloss coat on for a change taking in the wheel bays too then

a little wash run into the detailing I've noticed these UKR machines are pretty pristine at the moment so not going overboard on the weathering.

Morning folk's,thanks to being stupid and fitting the U/C before painting I've had a nightmare masking and painting the undersides but finished at last.

Thankfully the upper colours were a lot less hassle so pleased to reach this stage in the build.

I just caught up with this build Steve. It’s looking very good.

Stunning detailing on the cockpit 👍

I like your method of applying the white first, to help with painting of the wheel wells. I always made a mess of this, when I built US jet fighters many decades ago, as a young boy.

Great build and it looks like a nice kit.

Hi folk's she's been well glossed and the national insignia applied next up is a light wash into some of the detailing these aircraft are pretty pristine so not going mad with weathering.

Hi folk's nearly there now got a bit of tinkering to do with the canopy before final fitting and a couple of final touches.
