Enzo the Magnificent Posted January 17 Author Posted January 17 As the page header of this site says, this is the ultimate F-16 site. https://www.f-16.net/ 1 1
Ol' Scrapiron Posted January 18 Posted January 18 I have pointed my camera at a few that might be an inspiration for some of your builds. I'll limit my post to 1-2 images per airframe, but have more detail shots if they would be helpful. I know there are many online photos available, but these are planes I have personally photographed so it's what I can offer... I have others highlighting details like the wheel bays, etc., but those types of pics are readily available with a simple search. I look forward to seeing the projects (and may see if I have a Falcon kit in the stash that needs to be built) 4 2 1
Retired Bob Posted January 21 Posted January 21 I've taken a few photos from Flickr public domain as they are better than mine. A F-16C Block 50 from Spangdahalem, note damaged right tailplane and this block of F-16 aircraft did not have any reinforcing plates. I don't know how they can call the F-4 Phantom "Double-Ugly" when there's this FUGLY thing. And finally, why I think vinyl reinforcing plates are not going to be thick enough. 5
Enzo the Magnificent Posted January 29 Author Posted January 29 This isn't exactly a reputable reference source. But it is wonderfully nostalgic. This is Speed & Power No 5, dated April 19 - 26 1974. This was a magazine for teenagers and it covered planes, cars, motorbikes, trains, boats, rockets... You name it, if it had speed or power it was in! 10p in '74 is the equivalent of 93p today. Good luck getting any sort of magazine for less than a quid these days! Of course, this isn't my original copy. That was used as a colouring book by my brother about three weeks after I bought it. A couple of excerpts from the article: The aircraft is unlikely to enter service with the US Air Force despite the fact that its insignia are on the YF-16 prototype. Oh really? It is specially designed for air-to-air combat up to 500 miles from base - you are unlikely to see bombs on an F-16. Oh really?!?!? Let's put the mag into context. The Model Spot page reviewed some new kits that had just been released: Airfix 1/72 Gazelle and 1/24 Harrier. Matchbox A-7 and F-5. Those were the days, my friend. We thought they'd never end. 2 3
Pappy Posted February 2 Posted February 2 (edited) I just like that the test pilot is wearing a shirt and tie (colour co-ordinated of course) under the flight suit, very corporate! I also would have liked to visit the secret airfield some near the 'SPEED and POWER' offices, I bet the aircraft were flown by the Stig's dad cheers, Pappy Edited February 2 by Pappy 3
