wellsprop Posted January 14 Posted January 14 Hi all, Aside from the new cockpit/nose, what is required to convert a Jaguar Gr1 to a T2? Cheers Ben

Mike Posted January 14 Posted January 14 Hold your horse if you're building in 1:48, as we can petition Airfix to add a T.2 to their release schedule. If you're in a rush however, you could source a Kittyhawk T.2 kit or just the nose, and graft it to the new Airfix kit after April. There's also a couple of conversion kits that were created for the old Airfix kit, the old Pavla set being the more accurate of the two, as the Neomega set has cockpit sill issues, but sadly Paragon aren't around any more. Neil is still here as a member however, and it's always a treat to see him build a model. If you're talking 1:72, then you probably should have mentioned it

This is indeed 1/48, I've CAD modelled the T2 nose to graft onto the Airfix kit!
JagRigger Posted January 15 Posted January 15 Paragon T2 conversion always was the way for RAF and Pavla for French. Both OOP. I'll wait for Airfix
Stephen Posted January 15 Posted January 15 I'm pretty sure I have a couple of the Paragon conversions but they're unusable as the vacform canopies have yellowed.
Graham Boak Posted January 15 Posted January 15 Leave them in Hydrogen Peroxide cream for a few weeks. I bought mine in Boots because they didn't have the liquid which is available on line in the same low strength. It works with the canopies from Eastern Europe. 1 1 1

Not the Matchbox I was very disappointed to find that the cockpit would remove legs from any user daft enough to use the ejector seat The shape is 'just that bit bad' round the cockpit and overall shapes. Better to go for the Italeri one but I think the Hasegawa one will work too, but I haven't tried one yet 1

perdu Posted January 15 Posted January 15 I've just gone back to my Three Jag build for this photo if it helps anyone Looks as if this model's nose is far too short But I did make a very nice T2 from the Italeri one 1
wellsprop Posted January 15 Author Posted January 15 Based on the Airfix CAD and build photos, it actually appears that the fuselage splits after of the cockpit, I would guess that a T2 is planned by Airfix. I may hold off my conversion for now.... 1

I am not too optimistic a pure twin boxing will sell - they should plan parts and markings options well (rhyme without reason :-).

The question is that which one will be first.

In addition I read somewhere on Facebook (can't recall exactly where now, sorry) that the sprues for the new Airfix kit include two pilot figures. Does that indicate a Tbird in the future I wonder?
wellsprop Posted January 17 Author Posted January 17 Thanks all, my query has been answered. I think the discussion about future Airfix Jag boxing is best moved to the rumourmonger thread...
