Is the plastic there the one light grey and soft or newer darker and harder? I could imagine plastic quality impacts the panel lines sharpness too It’s the newer dark grey and looks very good. Would be nice to see couple photoes of the sprues. Wings and the spine cover would be most interesting. The review of this reissue on Britmodeller includes photoes of the sprues which look like the old light grey softer plastic.

Hornby do it with the locos so why not? Short Sperrin to complete the V-Bomber line-up.

I'm also not an Airfix fanboy so I don't need a new kit to be from this company. I am planning to build several in 1/72 though and I'd like something better than Revell's but cheaper than Tamiya's. I was expecting Airfix to be the one to offer it, afterall they have issued 1/72 kits of many WW2 classics at the start of the Hornby era. The trend however seems to have changed over the last few years, so much that today I feel a 1/48 Auster as more likely than a 1/72 Thunderbolt. And yes, I wouldn't be surprised to see a 1/24 P-47 before a new 1/72 one! 2

psdavidson Posted January 14 Posted January 14 OK, someone in the know mentioned purple ciggies earlier That brought to mind Silk Cut There used to be a Silk Cut Cup when I was younger Therefore, Airfix must be planning to release 1/72 rugby teams 1 2 1
Paul821 Posted January 14 Posted January 14 If the Hornby trains announcement is anything to go by, then there will be few new moulds, but a focus on the cheaper end of the range (gift gets and vintage) and reboxes. I would go as far as saying 2 or 3 mainstream new moulds and up to four starter level. 1
DominikS Posted January 14 Posted January 14 Although I'm not expecting anything interesting for me, I'd love to see: 1/72 Sea Fury 1/72 Fairey Firefly 1/72 Meteor Mk.1 and Mk.3 1/72 Seafires (they can start with Griffon ones) 1/72 Spitfire Mk.XIV (both fuselages) But I really doubt if I see anything from this list. 1 1

Silk Cut Jaguar won the Teams Championship and Jaguar driver Martin Brundle won the Drivers title. (from Wiki) - so that ties in with the Cryptic Workbench clue (Statue of Wilbur Wright @ Le Mans) from last Friday (Presume its a Quick build or a 1/43 kit). 1
cerperal Posted January 14 Posted January 14 So aside from the obvious (1/24 V-force gift set, naturally) I'd like to see the return and update of the 1/48 Afghan helicopters, especially the Merlins. There's also the 1/35 Conqueror I know for a fact was in development a few years ago, but who knows when or if that's ever coming out A new set of 1/72 and 1/48 Harriers wouldn't go amiss. The current SHAR is pretty poor

With the collective speculation reaching fever pitch this year, I’m thinking it’s possibly a Jaguar, but not this Jaguar. One you might expect in 1/72 or 1/48. 1

Nocoolname Posted January 14 Posted January 14 How many hours to go before the announcement of something completely different from what I might have surmised? I'm just trying to when to figure to put the reminder in my diary to throw my arms in the air and say "Nope! Not this year. Again!" 2

The Royal Familiy (2021) in 1/24 and some individually in 1/16, and a British aircraftcarrier (any period) in 1/350.

How about the Royle Family in 1/24 and some individually in 1/16? I could just see space on the mantle piece for a 1/16 of Jim sat in his chair or Nana. 🤣 As for British aircraft carrier, Airfix did tease a while back about the idea of building a large scale QE class, I wish they would just get to it. 2
zebra Posted January 14 Posted January 14 I've recently bought an Airfix Islander and an AMP Canberra, so I'm feeling pretty confident that the Islander will be a Vintage Classics release and there'll be a new tool Canberra B.2/6. 3
janneman36 Posted January 14 Posted January 14 Hmmm countdown has started and i am expecting a 1/24 Hampden just to scare ICM off 🙃
John B (Sc) Posted January 14 Posted January 14 As something slightly different, do you suppose a 1/35 scale Auster might be a possibility? Given the recent fine 1/35 kits and the age of the old Airfix Auster Antarctic, it might be different enough to annoy just about everyone guessing on here !
