Having recently secured a Revell Halifax B.III for a princely sum on a well known auction site I can probably guarantee that Airfix will announce a new tool tomorrow. Other than that a 1/72 ‘Car Door’ Typhoon and Vickers Warwick in the same scale would be nice. The latter is an obvious gap in RAF WW2 kits but probably too niche for Airfix….

Forgot to mention, how about a 1/48 Swift?
We’ve had a Javelin, Hunters, Sabre, Vampires and Meteors from Airfix in this scale, so there’s a glaring omission that I’d love to build.

Even better if the tooling could be for an F.1/F.2 as well as the more common FR.5.

Is it time for a new tool Canberra, in 1/72 or 1/48?

I guess (again...) most likely will be a 1:48 Spey Phantom (Now that ICM is doing a 1:48 Hampden)

My wish list is a lot longer:

1:48

Spey Phantom (see above - my bet goes here)

DH Venom

Spitfire Mk XIV high back

Sea King US Navy - Old 66 (Apollo rescue)

DH Hornet/Sea Hornet

Wessex

1:24

Hawker Sea Fury

Me 262 (asking for a friend. I just think it would sell quite well)

Some retooled classics would be great:

1:144 new tooled Space Shuttle (very unlikely)

1:72 retooled Concorde (molds are not as classic but Concorde surely is)

1:12 New tool Bentley (or some other classics like Aston Martin DB5 or Jaguar C-, D-, E-Type, XJ-13,...)

I'll just register my interest in a Supermarine Walrus in 1/72. Again. Just in case Airfix think I've lost interest.

Cheers

Predictions for 2025:

1/72 B24 - new decal options

1/72 Victor K2 - rerelease

1/48 Jaguar new tool

1/24 Sea Harrier - rerelease (would this count as a vintage classic?)

Wish list:

1/48 Spey Phantom

1/48 Halifax (will accept a 1/72)

1/24 Hawk

1/24 Hurricane

1/72 Shackleton mr2 reissue

Fantasy land (all new tool):

1/32 Spey Phantom

1/48 Halifax

1/72 Concorde

1/24 EE Lightning

1/72 Rivet Joint

1/72 Nimrod MRA4

Either way, will no doubt be spending some dosh on pre-orders tomorrow! Thanks to the mods for allowing this.

I'd like Tuesday afternoon to bring me a choice of either the Westland Wasp or Scout in 1/48 scale, big enough for detail but small enough to fit on the shelf.

Weirdos, the lot of you. Well, since no-one asked, I'll have to be the voice of reason with my perfectly rational and economically reasoned list of licenses to print money, which none of you will be able to resist. Once you've been turned.

1/24th Sopwith Pup, LVG C.VI and Albatros C.XII,

1/48th Gotha G.Va and HP 0/100.

1/72nd Gerry Anderson UFO, Caudron R.11.

I'll second a re-issued Ariel Arrow.

And of course, saving best for last, a 1/144 Naglo Quadroplane.

Paul.

Right aircraft, wrong scale and Airfix never downscale (though they do upscale)

Wasn’t the 1/48 Meteor F.8 released before the 1/72 kit of the same subject?

Cheers.. Dave

Yes it was but only because Covid prevented them researching new subjects.

Covid aside, then there is some proof of downsizing, so let’s not disappoint our braille scale friends who are still clinging hope for 1/72 Sea Vixens, Javelins, Walrus’, Ansons, Gannets et al!

Cheers.. Dave (who’s happy to build all scales)

I'm hoping for

1/48 Eurofighter Typhoon (20 yrs in service and no 1/48 kit from Airfix !)

1/48 Jaguar GR.1 ( Although I'm sitting on a pile of original kits )

1/48 Puma HC.1  (Probably not a chance in hell)

1/72 PB4Y-2 Privateer

1/48 Lysander Special Duties

Yeah - a P-47 flying squadron was based in Le Mans. Later replaced by transport squadron flying C-47s. Should we wait for a 1/24 Dakota???

I haven't thought about reissues yet

Victor K2/SR2 hopefully with new decals

B17 with RAF decals

B25 with RAF decals

Vulcan with XH558 decals (if so I predict they'll forget about the missing air scoop on the tail!)

1/48 ju87 new decals

1/72 Ju87R

1/72 blenheim night fighter

Lancaster bii?

Lancaster b.i special new parts would be very nice!!

Now then. I once had a conversation  with a staff member who worked at the now sadly gone Hornby Hobbies store in Swindon who let slip he had seen mention in an e mail of possible future releases.  Two of which were the Lancaster  B1 special and the tallboy version. That was a few years back so maybe it's on the cards now ?

My "hopefully" reasonable wish list -

1/48 Blenhiem Mk.IV - they've done a couple of runs of the Mk.I, so I assume the sales are there - just binned my old CA Mk.V after she suffered "a fate worse, than a fate worse than death"- she fell of the shelf :(

1/48 British Phantom - not one for me, but it seems to fit with their other post war jets.

1/48 Mosquito - would be nice to see this retooled to modern standards, especially the later two stage Merlin variants as the only options are resin conversions or their own mismash tooling based on their old Mk.IV

1/48 Meteor Mk.III - would like a nice early version, though the Tamiya one is still out there.

And my "out there" wishes -

1/48 Hudson - not entirely improbable, but if it did appear, 1/72 would be more likely, as 1/48 twins don't seem to be Airfix's thing (hopefully ICM will oblige in due course).

1/48 Bf-110 - I know we have the nice Eduard ones, but they can be swine to build i.e. no location points for the aerials on the nightfigters!, and the Cyber-Hobby ones, whilst absolutely superb, are expensive and hard to get hold of.

Ok..... My turn.

1/48 Phantom

1/48 Battle

1/48 Jet Provost

1/72 Halifax

And what I really want.......................... 1/48 Sunderland

Dick

Getting good vibes from the factory across the field from me.

All the subliminal signs are for a Vintage Classic reissue of the old Kitmaster Fireball XL5 which Airfix boxed a long time ago.

The series is on TV now, and a box got shown on a program yesterday. Obviously coordinated by the devious Airfix team

I hope the moulds are still around

Ray

The box was a mock up rather than the original. The only one I have seen images of is in aKitmastrr box.

Thanks mods for allowing this annual bit of fun.

Ok, here we go….

Prediction:

Something small scale from the interwar period or 1950’s (Navy version first).

Also I think there’s a fairly good chance of a new 48th scale EE Lightning (because after 9 years on and off with one, including a it’s spine transplant, I was putting the stencils on it only this morning)!

Wishlist:

Yes another vote for a 24th scale Hawk please!

British, iconic, colourful and very neat, (with a clever MDC solution please).

Some really nicely detailed fast jet pilots in seats that have realistic straps joining them over the shoulders (for different decades). Include them in the kits or as

an optional resin/3d print from now on, (then we can do models in flight again).

Would also love to see those 48th scale

Jag and Phantoms mentioned.

Will tune in tomorrow.

1/72 wishlist:

Spitfire XIV highback

Jaguar GR.1A

Tornado (any)

Super Tucano

Tempest II with Operation Firedog/RAF Kuala Lumpur decals

Vintage Classics issue of the Buffalo with RAF Sembawang decals

Really left field:

UH-60L/M with current sensors and options between the HIRSS exhaust dampeners and upwards exiting exhaust. Yes, it's out of New Medium Helicopter, but something more reflective of current UH-60s in 1/72 than the Italeri and Hasegawa kits is badly needed

Gripen E/F because of the online Saab lobby

S-70 Okhotnik  "XFAD-4 Draugr"

I've done my part to try and summon a new Jaguar!

Victor K Mk2 as I missed it the first time round.

For 2026:

Lysander MkII based on their brand new Mk1/III

1/350 HMS Nelson/Rodney or a reboot of the Illustrious

I forgot the Gripens!!

Please - Gripen A, Gripen C aaaand Gripen E/F all in 1/72 to a modern standard

All user's markings

And while I'm at it: the SAAB AWACS Eyrieye and Globaleye - in 1/72 of course!
