My wishes/hopes for the new releases are:

New tool 1/72 Gloster Javelin - I have read so many books about the Javelin, and seen them in flight and at the Jet Age Museum that I really want to build one which is a high quality kit. I don't have room for the 1/48 version, but have for 1/72

Vintage Classic - well, pretty much anything really (at least I will be able to say I was right...)

It is short, but sweet

1/72 Me 410 in new versions is not that improbable.
And a new tool 1/72 He 219 would be nice.

Someone on the previous, subsequently shut-down thread mentioned that the man reaching for the sky represents modelers who have turned to stone waiting for a 1/48 SEPECAT Jaguar to appear!  I thought that was one of the most hilarious things to read in print, together with the moderator's admonition against resembling the places on the Internet populated by "Austrian businessmen who wear socks and sandals" or some such.

This year I think the pickings will be slim.  Nonetheless I think we will get the following:

1/48 Phantom FG.1

1/72 B-24J with USAAF, RAAF, and RAF Far East insignia.

There is a tiny, teeny possibility we'll see a:

1/48 Lockheed Hudson

Much more dynamism among the Vintage classics:

Shorts Skyvan

French Foreign Legion play set

Piper Cherokee

Vintage Classics

Islander

Skyvan

Cherokee Arrow.

Given that there has been some talk of a move away from aircraft some of the surviving 1/32nd car kits, eg Viva, Maxi, Sunbeam Rapier

New tools, my heart says 1/72nd scale scale Venom, Javelin, but guessing it will be something in 1/48th given the current infatuation.

Just because now we are actually prompted to put the wild wish lists here - here is what I'd like from Airfix - all 1/72:

- DH Mosquito two-stage reconnaissance version

- Blackburn Roc and Scua

- Fairey Firefly

- Supermarine Attacker

- Hawker Sea Hawk

- DH Sea Venom

- DH Sea Vixen

- Gloster Javelin

- Supermarine Scimitar

- new tool Canadair Sabre

- SEPECAT Jaguar both GR.1 and T.2

- Westland Whirlwind - the one without wings

- Westland Lynx any versions up to AW159

- Leonardo AW139/149 or AW169 or AW189

- Huey family starting with Twin Huey please

- Shorts Tucano

- Ultimate F-35B with realistic ram tapes

Maybe I can think of something else...

I think given Airfix move towards 1/48th  . We will probably  see reboxings there. Probably  not a new tool as they've recently  released the Lysander. As for 1/72 I think that it will be reboxings and another vintage classic. Im reluctant to wishlist but in an ideal world a lincoln/ Javelin/ Jaguar or even Tornado would be nice.

I’ve seen suggestions of a 1/48 Hudson gain traction out in the wild. If using the Hendon example (the only one in Europe) there are several bear traps….

I’d buy one though.

Trevor

have I ever mentioned a Balliol? Think about it, Airfix is running out of postwar RAF trainers to do.

Last year's Airfix Catalogue had some configuration of Spitfire on almost every other page so I'm guessing this year the main release will be a...

wait for it...

...wait for it...

Spitfire. 🙂

Probably a MkIII/Mk X!V Clipped Wing Trop in 1/76 as part of an Easy Build Dogfight Double set.

Sorted. We can probably lock this thread again now.

Don't forget that Airfix won't tool anything for which there aren't either a) An intact example b) Manufactures drawings.

Sadly that eliminate around one third of the subjects 'wished' so far.

I’m afraid I know what they all are as my LHS on Saturday had a copy of the new AMW on the counter!

absolutely not spilling as it’s not fair and spoils everyone’s fun. I will have a smug face on Tuesday though 🙂

Didn't they say this wasn't a hard rule just a strong preference? Makes no business sense not to tool something that is in demand, just because it can't be made perfect. Take a hypothetical 1/72 Do217 for example- how many people will really be put off because it's not lidar scanned, but would still be miles ahead of anything else available?

The usual suspects:

1:24   E E Lightning F.6   (not perverse, but this desire will only be abated by my death)

1:48   Spey Toom F-4K/FG.1  -or-  Jaguar GR.1A

1:72   Bristol Britannia

           V-bomber ground support set

So there!

Completely pointless - I love it, Thanks 😁🤣

I'm not asking for much... ;)

Yes please.

I'll join in too.

1/48 Jaguar - I found reasonable evidence to think this is likely.

No basis for this, but I'd like a 1/48 Spey Phantom.

And a wish from me 1/24 BAe Hawk.

Amen to that.  Alas, we'll not see this.  If we do, I'll eat my shirt and videotape myself in the act, live on YouTube.

NO .  They confirmed this to me last ? year.   Now they may have changed (though I doubt it) but even if they had then it's unlikely that the lead time required would allow a new such release in 2025

Well I could say what aircraft were scanned and otherwise researched at the Ulster Aviation Society in 2023  and I do know of at least four kits that have been worked on by Ethan and Paramjit, just need to see on Tuesday which ones have progressed enough to be announced/released  😉

Something interesting in 1:72 for British WWII - not holding my breath though as the modelling world seems to be moving towards 1:48.

Cheers,

Although relatively new, would be great to see some half hearted toolings being replaced down the line with those with far more finesse- namely EE Lightning and Canberra, in both scales.

In 48th.scale, plenty yet to tool, if we take Trumpeter/HB botched efforts even more.

Jaguar family

Venom family

Mosquitos , incorporating twin stage Merlins

Hawker Typhoon

Eurofighter

Spey Phantoms

Jet Provost

Tucano

Hudson

Both Westland Whirwinds

Harrier FRS.1/ F/A.2

Harrier GR.5-9

Barracuda

Battle

re Scimitar Right aircraft, wrong scale and Airfix never downscale (though they do upscale)

I’d be really surprised if they didn’t announce a HAR.3 version of their sea king kit. The yellow scheme especially if they go for the SAR 25th anniversary marking would be really fetching.

Otherwise a 1/48 Spey Phantom still seems like an open goal with a 1/48 SEPECAT Jaguar a reasonably close second.

That said, it’ll probably be another year without either.

Mrs. Likelyhood whispered in my ear:

"Just one in each scale...."

24: Highpack Pony or F4U

48 Modern: Tonka (GR), Eufi or Jag

48 Old: Mossie (2stage), 262,

72 Do 217, Havoc/Boston, BAC 1-11 (yes, I mean that)

35 Bedford , FIAT 680 series

Meteor. This was successful, and surely Airfix are more open to developing 1/72 counterparts to 1/48 kits.

Again, I'm not sure some arbitrary rule is any way to run a business. It wouldn't be very smart to avoid an in demand kit just because it has been done in a larger scale.
