RossFMJ Posted January 10 Posted January 10 Hi, I've been looking at various things on Britmodeller for months now and am impressed by so many people on the site. I'm currently working on a couple of car kits but have done armour and planes mainly in the past. I'd put my skills at amateur at the best. Currently trying to find a zero cost hosting site to post builds. There are some seriously great modellers on this site but that's not what it's about. Anyone can model to any standard and that's all that matters. 3

It's easy to use and you get 1000 photos hosted for free. Nearly all mine are 1/600 scale crudely built ships though. Regards, Jeff. 1
Abandoned Project Posted January 11 Posted January 11 Hello and from Lincolnshire. 11 hours ago, RossFMJ said: I've been looking at various things on Britmodeller for months now Glad that you have stopped lurking and come in from the cold. Good to have you on board.
Pete in Lincs Posted January 11 Posted January 11 Welcome Ross. Don't worry about lack of skills. You'll soon learn all sorts of techniques from the site. Look, learn and enjoy.
Rob G Posted January 11 Posted January 11 Pah, skills schmills. There's a few here who are excellent at their chosen hobby, the great majority of us are mere plastic manglers, so you don't need to feel intimidated. Welcome aboard. 1
Tim_Or_Is_It Posted January 11 Posted January 11 Hi there!! Nice to meet You There are AWESOME modellers on here, but the most important thing is to enjoy doing it! Bet your skills are better than you think Tim
Mark Harmsworth Posted January 11 Posted January 11 Welcome. I'm sure you'll enjoy it here. And: 13 hours ago, RossFMJ said: Currently trying to find a zero cost hosting site to post builds I can happily recommend imgur. Here: https://imgur.com/ all the best Mark

Neddy Posted January 11 Posted January 11 Hi Ross, from another car modeller, east of you. In the three years since I joined this august Guild Of Plastic Manglers my modest skills have improved as if by osmosis. You just read, learn, pick up tips and apply them almost subconsciously to your own methods and they just... get better. As far as free image hosting is concerned there are several and everyone has their favourites but the one I use is imgbox - free, easy to use and appears to be unlimited. Enjoy your hobby and shout in the relevant section if you have any questions. There's always people eager to help.

We could, at times, be classed as a strange bunch but there is nothing strange about our enthusiasm and desire to help each other on the subjects of modelling. 5 hours ago, Neddy said: my modest skills have improved as if by osmosis. Hi Neddy, so you got someone else to do them for you. Cheers, Mike 1
Corsairfoxfouruncle Posted January 11 Posted January 11 (edited) Hello Ross … from somewhere across the pond from you in Chicago USA. Personally I’m mostly a military aircraft builder, though will take on the odd piece of armor or the occasional ship now. I’ve been building since 1979 and nothing really makes me want to stop. I’ve slowed down in the last couple of years from health issues but thats about it. Personally I use Imgur for hosting, it’s a free site and because it also acts like a social media site the photo’s are unlimited. You have the option to make all your posts private so you can totally ignore the Social media aspect if you choose. Sometimes I scan it for a few laughs though. HK-500 Posted January 11 Posted January 11 Hello from France , Ross, the main thing to do is to enjoy yourself, and we'll do so by watching your build😉
RossFMJ Posted January 12 Author Posted January 12 Thanks for the warm welcome and advice from all of you:-) 1
