empanadilla Posted January 10 Posted January 10 (edited) Hello all, first topic created for me and please let me know if I am posting it in the correct section.... Been looking for a decent stand to paint and do all things concerning our lovely hobby and I find all kinds of weird things...the ONLY one that looks the part is about $45 in Bezo's place; Comes up as "Stand for Model Airplanes for Display Making and Painting,Planes Work Stand,360 Degree Rotation,Tray for Part of 1/72, 1/48 (Silver +Swivel Base)" Any word of advice? Cheers! Edited January 10 by empanadilla took out link
Captain Glumbo Posted January 10 Posted January 10 I picked up one of these for a tenner at the Telford show https://www.ebmahobby.co.uk/index.php?route=product/product&path=67&product_id=77 2

I think some spray booths come bundled with one, but you can get small ones from a tenner. 1

You still have to put it on a lazy susan though if you want it to rotate. 😉😁 I just use one of them old rotating Tamiya wire stands. 1
dromia Posted January 10 Posted January 10 I have tried many of the types shown here but this is my holder of choice now. Universal work holder. I have found this to be the most flexible and solid. If it will not hold the model as is, which it will do in most situations the elastic band the model onto a block of wood and put that in the holder. I put suitably diametered rubber tubing over the pins so they have a little give. An excellent solid stand with a small footprint. 1

When I looked it up, I was surprised the entry lacks a German language version and there even is no German wikipedia entry for "Drehteller" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lazy_Susan (I'll leave it up to you to think about the reasons (too simple to justify an explanation, the German word itself is so long (as always) it includes the instruction to build and operate one, it is verboten to be lazy, ...) the item itself is well known since we do have chinese restaurants) 1
spitfire Posted January 10 Posted January 10 This is mine an eBay special, looks pretty much like yours and it works great wish I had got one years ago, the front support is not in use as I was woking on the engine/cowling Cheers Dennis 3
flyboy2610 Posted January 11 Posted January 11 I bought this one on eBay. https://www.ebay.com/itm/385374323221 It works quite well and I've been very pleased with it. 1 1

TLMarchent Posted April 2 Posted April 2 Hello, Would these stands be useful for 1/144 scale models? I have a Boeing 787-8 model and I'm looking for an aircraft stand so I can start painting this. Any thoughts would be appreciated!
Casey Posted April 2 Posted April 2 Most of those are pretty much scalable down, I would more ask about what is the size of the model you want to paint not the scale, some models at 144 scale are still big The closest you can bring supports on the one I have is around 4cm, but it all depends on the model you get. If you happen to have 3D printer, it is easier to print them out, since you can tailor them to your needs if necessary For example something like: https://makerworld.com/en/models/561609-support-universal-airplane-boats-tanks

Mr_Sworld Posted May 15 Posted May 15 The Flory Model stand is pretty good (if you can get hold of one! https://youtu.be/t3Cq7DsKsdc?si=cf8IcQ3hNDsrtNSG I've mounted mine onto a Tamiya turntable.
szeregowy Posted May 15 Posted May 15 9 hours ago, Keeff said: @szeregowy .... if I remember, it was from E-bay Keith ☺️ Blimey, it looks quite premium to what I've seen on fleabay. You don't happen to have a link to yours, do you? I went on a quick search and found a lot of rubbish quality jigs that looked like they were made from paper.
Keeff Posted May 16 Posted May 16 @szeregowy Link for the stand I use ... https://ebay.us/m/dKhTZk Keith ☺️

Mark Harmsworth Posted May 16 Posted May 16 Oh. I never knew I should have one of those. 😁 For the last ten or twelve years I've been using a couple of lumps of old packing foam with pieces of kitchen towel over them to make it nice and comfy for the model. Low tech. Mark
