PlaStix Posted January 8 Posted January 8 This is just a small project to keep me occupied until the next GB I want to take part in, which is in March. I do usually enjoy these small Dragon 1/72nd kits, so I'm hoping this one is as good as previous ones I have built. Box and contents first: The tracks are okay, in that they have not gone brittle, but they have certainly developed a bit of a curve in the box! I think they will be okay. It's all been given a wash with warm soapy water and I have made a bit of a start. When I was buying these kits, many years ago, I was always pleased to see that photoetch was included in Dragon kits, even their 1/72nd kits: ....but in this scale especially, it is quite hard to see it on the finished build from normal viewing angles!: Most parts that I want to add to the hull before painting and weathering are on: ......and the photoetch is still there! I'm not planning on doing anything special for this project.... I just want to enjoy to build process, the painting and weathering. Updates may be few and far between but I will try to make sure I do some before it's finished. Kind regards, Stix 7
Bullbasket Posted January 8 Posted January 8 Does it come with a bottle with a label on it saying "Drink me"? One of the few German WW2 vehicles that appeal to me, but not sure that I could go down this small. Still, I'll be following along to enjoy the experience. Good luck with your build Stix. John. 1
Stef N. Posted January 8 Posted January 8 I will enjoy this. I assume you are doing the interesting CYBOPOB?👍😁 1
Keeff Posted January 8 Posted January 8 Ooh another masterclass in brush painting! I've got my chair so will tag along .... Keith ☺️ 1

Hi John. I hope you are keeping well. Yeah, it did seem small when I started, especially as my previous build was in 1/35! But, once I was into the swing of things, it seems okay. To be fair, some manufacturers put incredibly small parts in 1/35 kits!! Thank you. On 08/01/2025 at 17:01, Stef N. said: I will enjoy this. I am sorry it's been a while since my last post but I am struggling with time for modelling and being on Britmodeller at the moment. So just a quick photo update. Paint has been applied to lower hull and running gear parts - Humbrol's Acrylic Desert Yellow, thinned with water and applied with a medium flat brush. Please see the last pic for the brush I used. I'll hopefully apply my usual basic weathering next. Comments and suggestions welcome. Kind regards, Stix 8 1
Bullbasket Posted January 17 Posted January 17 I know that this is still a long way off from finishing, but it's starting to look good already. As usual, nice work with the hairy stick. John. 1
edjbartos Posted January 17 Posted January 17 Nice work Stix, up to your usual high standard, looking good... Ed 1

I do apologise again about the lack of updates, but I am struggling to find much time at all at the moment. I have managed a bit over the past two weekends. I have managed to get my basic weathering started on all the lower hull parts. First an overall, very, very thinned wash of Revell's, acrylic, Gunship Grey, thinned with water, was applied with a soft medium sized brush. Once dry, using a fine pointed brush, I applied thinned Revell's Anthracite, in and around the details - to basically give the details more depth. Then I used a lightened version of Humbrol's acrylic, Desert Yellow to dry-brush over everything, to pick out some of the highlights: I also got the basic tire colour on, using thinned Revell's Anthracite, applied with a fine pinted brush: More soon, I hope. Comments and suggestions welcome. Kind regards, Stix 6
FrancisGL Posted January 28 Posted January 28 Hi Stix, A very cool project, the "Stugs" are interesting vehicles, and you can already see very well what you have done. Cheers Francis 👍 1

Cheers Francis 👍 Thank you Francis. I hope you are keeping well. Couple of quick updates. I have stippled on some very thinned acrylics to create some weathering, added some runs down the hull sides and fitted the wheels: Then I toned down the tyres with some very watery Gunship Grey and then fitted the idlers and drive sprockets: I also attached the remaining parts to the rear of the hull: Tracks were fitted after being painted with thinned Revell's acrylic Anthracite, given a dry-brushing with Humbrol's acrylic Gunmetal before having washes of Humbrol's Desert Sand and Railmatch's Light Rust applied: This weekend I made a start on assembling some of the upper hull parts: More soon I hope. Kind regards, Stix 6 1
Bullbasket Posted February 10 Posted February 10 Excellent work as always Stix. The lower hull is looking very good. Nice work. John. 1
FrancisGL Posted February 12 Posted February 12 Hi Stix, the work on the lower part looks very real, as always, very nice. Cheers Francis 👍 1

Thank you all for your very kind comments as always. I'm sorry I'm not finding as much time as I'd like to be on Britmodeller. I'm also not finding much time for making this model either, but I have made a bit of progress over the last few weeks. The upper hull parts were all assembled on top of the lower hull and I got all of these parts painted with Humbrol's acrylic Desert Yellow. As usual the paint with water and applied with a medium flat brush: Then I did my usual early weathering - everything was given an overall wash of very, very thinned Revell's acrylic Gunship Grey. Once dry, I used a very fine pointed brush to apply very thinned Revell's acrylic Anthracite, in and around all the raised and recessed details. Finally, once dry again, I dry-brushed on a lightened version of the base coat: Decals to be applied, plus some more weathering next. Kind regards, Stix 4 1 2
