The only problem with that is that the 1/48 scale kits are not accurate. If HobbyBoss were to just downsize those kits without making corrections they would be no better than the Italeri kits and probably a whole lot more expensive.

Both listed as 1/48 scale, no mention of these being kitted in 1/72 scale

I don't know. Trumpeter came out with the 1/32 kits that look like they got punched in the nose with a hammer.
