Goldfish Whisper Posted January 3 Posted January 3 My latest completed project - Hobby 2000's MiG-15bis in 1:48 scale. Painted in colours of the DDR's Air Forces of the National People's Army. Brush painted with Vallejo acrylics. Built OOB apart from vacform canopy and Eduard stencil set. As others have observed, this kit is cheap and cheerful but far from perfect. The canopy pieces were unusably bad so I had to replace with MH Models' vacform replacement. It was my first time using vacform so that was a bit of a learning experience. Another issue I had was with the vinyl canopy masks that came with the kit - I don't know whether it was my Halfords primer but something didn't agree with the masks and they left a nasty black residue that was hard to remove. This is my second kit in a row where I've had bad experiences with vinyl masks so in future I will probably just chuck them and order paper ones! Apart from that, a pretty fun build and who doesn't like those jolly DDR roundels? 18
obdl3945 Posted January 4 Posted January 4 Nice work. Your canopy parts came good in the end; I did have a chuckle at your last comment... "who doesn't like those jolly DDR roundels?" I've always been strangely fascinated by the East German airforce's national marking for some reason beyond my understanding! Well done... 😁👍. 1
