Keeff Posted January 19 Author Posted January 19 (edited) Greetings fellow peaceful builders! It's been a busy time in real life for me, but managed to get a few hours on the Ferguson twins. Lots of bits added and some nice big gaps on the sprues as my reward! So, here's the latest .... noting one twin is grey and one black primed. No reason other than I wanted to see how light the grey primer looked, bearing in mind both will be "little grey Fergies" I need to find a suitable grey for the top coat ... I'm sure there's one in the paint drawer of the big red toolbox! Comments welcome as always Keith ☺️ Edited January 19 by Keeff 12 1
The Spadgent Posted January 19 Posted January 19 Heck. I didn’t realise you get two. How amazing. 😍🚜🚜. Any pic of the diorama part? I’m intrigued. Both looking splendid by the way. Johnny

wimbledon99 Posted January 19 Posted January 19 Hi Keith, They're looking good! I have to admit to liking the grey more. Might be just the light in the photo, but the detail seems to be lost with the black. 1
Keeff Posted January 20 Author Posted January 20 So, just for @The Spadgent, here is the 'high quality' vac-formed diorama base ..... which is unlikely to be used: I've thought about using the base as a mould to create a clay or plaster one, but at the nearest end, there isn't much depth, or just use the deeper parts and make it smaller.....🤔 Keith ☺️ 7 1
SnøMotion Posted January 20 Posted January 20 There’s a level of ambiguity to that base that means they could include it with almost any kit Certainly could be a rally stage 🤔 Martin 2 1

The Spadgent Posted January 21 Posted January 21 Thanks Keith. It’s not that bad. It’s a start point for sure. Then again I just looked again. 🫣. It reminds me of one of the moulds from my now ancient Dick Smith Horror make up kit circa 1978. 🧟♂️ 1
Keeff Posted January 27 Author Posted January 27 So, here we are with another update: After a very busy week or so of work and family stuff, I managed a bit of time at the barn last night. Not much to report, but there is a bit of progress. First up, I broke out the grey primer and airbrushed a fresh coat on both track'ers: Much better! I also had my paint delivered ..... I've gone for Vallejo model air 71.051 Neutral Grey which looks about right for these. Now, remember those pesky ejector pin marks? A bit of surgery and delicate sanding has rid the fenders of them ..... and I assembled one of the bonnets .... after removing all the ejector pin marks So, that's where I'm at currently. As usual comments and feedback welcome! Keith ☺️ 10
wimbledon99 Posted January 27 Posted January 27 Nice!! You're much more conscientious than I am! I'm hoping the inner pin marks on the wheel guards will be hidden by the wheels 1 1

SnøMotion Posted January 27 Posted January 27 Yeah, I feel bad about ignoring pin marks, now Track'ers are coming along nicely, though Martin 1

Keeff Posted February 10 Author Posted February 10 (edited) Orr roight my fellow peace luvverrrs! Two weeks since my last update, but time down on the farm has been somewhat limited. Happily some progress has been made .... I decided to prime all the remaining bits that will be grey as a final colour, so went a bit mad in the barn: And then, inspired by the fine result produced by @wimbledon99 I decided that one of the Ferguson twins should be red, so I broke out the airbrush and Vallejo red and went full custom. A coat of gloss varnish has also been applied as I'll need to assemble the wheels next: The radiators, batteries and fan belts have been painted black, which used the remainder of the mix I'd made for the Tempest I'm working on so a bit of detail done. Next up is painting the bits that need to be grey ..... well, grey! Thanks for looking in, and as always, comments welcome! Keith ☺️ Edited February 10 by Keeff 11 2
SnøMotion Posted February 10 Posted February 10 Good to see this progressing I like that shade of red, too 👌 Martin 1
wimbledon99 Posted February 10 Posted February 10 Loving this!! What red is that? It’s much more of a ‘tractor red’ than the one I used. 1

desert falcon Posted February 16 Posted February 16 Great work so far @Keeff, loving the red color 👍 1
The Spadgent Posted February 16 Posted February 16 That main engine area looks the business. Awesome looking Red too. 🙌❤️ Johnny 1
Keeff Posted February 20 Author Posted February 20 Orrr roight my lovelies and welcome to the latest installment of my build. In a very rare occurrence, I had a whole morning today tinkering with the Ferguson twins .... F'nah! 😳 Some work has been done in short stints since the last update, during which I've added ignition leads and a fuel line for extra detail. This mornings time has really brought these on...... I painted some of the components - alternator, distributor cap, coil and starter motor and I got the front ends done with the fitting of the radiators and bits behind. So I now have these: The radiators have been dry brushed with a dark grey to lift the detail, and so they don't look like plain slabs: I know from my research (get me .... researching! ) that when these tractors were painted, everything was covered in one colour, but I've chosen to do mine as I have to add some interest .... and I can! As always, comments are welcome! Keith ☺️ 12
