theplasticsurgeon Posted December 29, 2024 Posted December 29, 2024 As promised in the chat thread, joining with this recent Airfix kit. Receipt says that it cost me £9.89, on 19 Oct 2023. Airfix's description of what it is and does. A look at the instructions. And colours for the English Channel crossing in June 1959. I'll post a photo of the parts on 11 Jan. See you then. 22
dnl42 Posted January 2 Posted January 2 Excellent choice! I'm building that now. Needle files, sanding sticks, putty, and clamps are in the required tool kit. Evergreen strip and AFT Resin Panel Lines were also useful. 1

theplasticsurgeon Posted January 12 Author Posted January 12 A day in the freezing shed, airbrushing, brings this preparation. Some parts airbrushed Humbrol 22 gloss white, others Humbrol 27001 dull aluminium. Paint just doesn't want to stick to Airfix's modern plastic. 7
theplasticsurgeon Posted January 12 Author Posted January 12 A bit of assembly this morning, then more masking. In preparation for airbrushing Humbrol 14 French Blue 10

Pappy Posted January 15 Posted January 15 Whoah! Are you sure you didn't mean to join the blitzbuild? Cracking work there, cheers, Pappy 1
Keeff Posted January 15 Posted January 15 Blimey ... you're not mucking about are you? Nice work and build.... good job! Keith ☺️ 1
bianfuxia Posted January 15 Posted January 15 Great job! And so fast! I've wanted to build this ever since I was a kid - I must get my hands on it somehow. I'm hoping that, having finished this so fast, you're in with another build before it's over? 1
