Robert Shedd Posted December 28, 2024 Posted December 28, 2024 Building ships or boats of any kind is well out of my comfort zone as I usually stick to aircraft but Lidl's knock down price on the Revell Titanic twin pack convinced me to have a go... Rather than building 2 identical Titanic kits I decided to depict the smaller of the two as the wrecked version (albeit the 2 halves being much closer together than the real thing) with the larger scale Titanic depicted in "as new" condition. The build went better than I expected with no parts fit issues along the way; although my lack of ship building skills was evident in my constantly referring to the instructions for parts location and paint colours! 🫤 Starter set paints were included with the kit and were far better quality than the freebies offered with Airfix starter sets, with good coverage and paint consistency. My only niggle was the decals which gave me a bit of a challenge especially the gold line around the upper hull which disintegrated at the slightest touch. All in all a fun build and a break from the norm although I'll likely never build another one! 🙂 19
Steve27752 Posted December 28, 2024 Posted December 28, 2024 Nicely done, does it come with a submersible?
Donald Posted December 29, 2024 Posted December 29, 2024 I was given the same Revel double Titanic (and a 1/600 Titanic by someone else) as a present a few years back: good idea to do the 1/1200th one as the wreak.
