Great work on both engines we are so lucky now compared to the 90's when all we had was cast resin engines from Verlinden and then still had to scratch build 80% of it to get it presentable to use in a model. Pete Thank's Pete! I feel Takom is the one to prefer here both in assembly wise and in better defined details. I only wish Takom had done better job on the carburetors - then it would be perfect in every way. 1 1
Morantbay Posted February 26 Posted February 26 Heck ... Fantastic job so far, but you're just convincing me that mine should stay in the closet until after retirement. No way I'm not going to just stall on that interior. Which has no bearing on the fine, and rapid work you're doing of course. 1 1
vaoinas Posted March 5 Author Posted March 5 One of the Maybachs is now painted and weathered. Decided to not do them both simultaneously 'cause I needed to get the thing done and in the vehicle to show it at my local club meeting today. Here it is: Cheers! Kristjan 10 5 2
vaoinas Posted March 7 Author Posted March 7 Thank you! The engine is in the hull now. It fits quite perfectly in into its place but some care and attention is needed when fitting all the cooling pipes and shafts around it. The air filters sit dry on top there and could be removed easily to show the engine little better. The tracks are also assembled and fitted for the first time. However, the 3D-printed idler wheels doesn't fit very well between the guide horns, and possibly need some serious sanding. On the other hand I could use the kit wheels. We'll see. Cheers! Bullbasket Posted March 7 Posted March 7 Sorry Kristhan. I've completely run out of superlatives, so I'll just say superb. John. 1 2

Keeff Posted March 7 Posted March 7 Outstanding work as always and a nice bit of progress! Keith ☺️ 1 2
vaoinas Posted March 14 Author Posted March 14 Thank you very much! The sponson floors and the front bulkhead is now added. The driver's compartment has some extra seats and the bulkhead contains the winch operating levers as well. To the winch compartment I added two hoses that goes to the transmission. And that's how she looks now. Next stop will be fuel tanks, batteries and a few electrical bits. Cheers! Kristjan 8 7 1
Keeff Posted March 14 Posted March 14 That is superb Kristjan! The wear effects on the seats are really good and very realistic. Overall, this is looking so good! Keith ☺️ 1 2
szeregowy Posted March 14 Posted March 14 Amazing job @vaoinas. Can I ask how did you paint the seats? They have a really good worn out look. 1

Thank you, Szeregowy! I stumbled onto this tutorial a while ago and use basically the same techniques since, when it comes to paint leather. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bBP291DI2WU&ab_channel=LPJModels Cheers! vaoinas Posted March 31 Author Posted March 31 Yet another update on the Bergepanther. The Battery main switch and the electrical panel that is located on the left side of the driver was a bit of a mystery at first, Trying to find any info or better images of the setup, I found a nice photo of the middle electrical thingy that had a connection diagram visible, so we have somewhat believable mess of wires and cables and different sized electrical boxes now. Here are the sponson floors filled with fuel tanks batteries and other stuff. The whole thing at different angles as always. And that's it for now. Cheers! Kristjan 10 6 1
vaoinas Posted April 10 Author Posted April 10 Thank you! Next batch of details contained only the rear wall and a few bits of cooling system. I added lifting hooks to the cooling units and used some styrene ad putty to make the outer sides a bit prettier. Attaching the rear wall didn't go as smoothly as one might expect and needed some persuasion and pressure to make contact to the center longitudinal bulkheads. I also added the shovel attachment points shortly after - these were drilled out to allow the shovel to be added later. Also note the two shiny bolts that I made there. And so are the cooling units with their ducts added to the sides of the engine compartment. That's it for now. Next to the 40-ton winch. Cheers! Kristjan 8 7 1
Stef N. Posted April 10 Posted April 10 Brilliant Kristjan. A small detail but I love the oily/dirty weathering you have done. Not over done but just right. 1 1
vaoinas Posted April 23 Author Posted April 23 Hey, thanks mates! The 40-ton winch in this kit isa kit in itself too. It's a bit more crude compared to the engine but has some nice details and builds into a decently detailed winch. Some minor touch ups have been added here and there, most notably the button screws for the access hatches and the belt brake details for the side wheel. Most of the winch will brake apart to allow the painting of course. I'm not sure about the winch cable yet. The string provided with the kit would be the easy to go option but it doesn't look too much like a real thing to me, so I ordered a few yards of Karaya 0,9mm copper cable to try my luck with that first. If that fails for some reason, then the string it will be. Cheers! Kristjan 7 5 2
