81-er Posted December 19, 2024 Posted December 19, 2024 My latest completion, although I finished it about a month ago, this is the Eduard 1/72 kit of a UTI MiG-15, finished as an aircraft from the Algerian Air Force. Built OOB using the kit PE, the only additions being a pitot from brass tube and the aerial line made from Uschi van der Rosten rigging line. Paint is Mr Hobby and Tamiya acrylics, and weathering is a combination of oil paints and pigments. James 50 7 1
franky boy Posted December 19, 2024 Posted December 19, 2024 Great work James. The painting and weathering look top notch. James 1
Airbusboy Posted December 19, 2024 Posted December 19, 2024 What a lovely build, very well done 👍 May I ask what method you used for the excellent paint chipping ? I'm about to attempt this technique on an VPAF Airfix Mig-17 and am torn between hairspray or Maskol. Any information would be really handy ! 1
Vultures1 Posted December 19, 2024 Posted December 19, 2024 Excellent work! I love the faded and chipped desert scheme - well done 👍 1
cpoud117 Posted December 19, 2024 Posted December 19, 2024 Nicely done, I like how your chipping looks. 1
modelling minion Posted December 19, 2024 Posted December 19, 2024 Fantastic result mate, she looks superb and with very nice weathering. 1
Terry1954 Posted December 19, 2024 Posted December 19, 2024 Superb result James. The weathering top and bottom looks spot on and the camouflage scheme looks very convincing. Love it! Terry 1
81-er Posted December 20, 2024 Author Posted December 20, 2024 Thank you, everyone @Airbusboy, I actually didn't do either of those. I tore a small piece off a washing up sponge, held it in tweezers, and then dipped it in some silver paint. Dab most of the paint off on some kitchen roll as you would with dry brushing, then very lightly stipple the area you want to look chipped. It's very easy to press to hard and get big splodges, so I'd recommend having a go on a mule first James 3 2

PATRICK FROM THE SANDS Posted December 20, 2024 Posted December 20, 2024 Not my cup of tea but absolutely superb! Great 72eme! 1
Marcel Posted December 20, 2024 Posted December 20, 2024 I’m not a fan of Russian subjects but your painting and weathering is great! 1
TeaWeasel Posted December 20, 2024 Posted December 20, 2024 Very nice work on the weathering. There's so much potential with the early MiGs, always nice to see one not in the usual Soviet NMF, great work 👍 1
The Spadgent Posted January 5 Posted January 5 Brilliant work. I’m now regretting selling my Tamiya Mig. Fantastic chipping effect and I especially like the weathering on the underbelly. 😀 Johnny 1
81-er Posted January 5 Author Posted January 5 THanks guys @The Spadgent I can whole heartedly recommend the Eduard kit, so much so I've actually bought myself two more James
