This project took a very long time to process.

It sat on my shelf since 2012,but I never found the time to actually start it until early 2020.

I actually planned it for my 2020  747 anniversary builds, but I never managed to find the motivation to continue the build.

I regained the motivation in 2022 and started to handpaint 350+ tiny seats...

I wanted it to be as much 70s style as possible,so a lot of research was done to find pictures of actual cabins or mock ups.

As I have a lot of 747 books, they were really helpful for this task.

I also reproduced the cabin walls and modified the first passenger door on the inside, to get a more realistic look.Sadly, not much of it is visible now...😳 I should have known better...

To get the whole cabin into the fuselage and everything closed up and painted, without destroying the interior was a major task that took many weeks/months of careful masking and painting.

The engines were also modified.

I created new inlet rings to get a seamless intake and cutted off the rings in front of the engine cones, glued the halves together individually and glued them back on to make them sit more accurate.

Its a real eye catcher in the cabinet but I would not want to do another...

Cheers

Alex

Now that's impressive. The kind of thing you might expect to see at a travel agency.

I'll add a 2nd 'impressive' - this is one of those old kits you see on the shelves and may easily be disregarded for no good reason other than a lack of interest and possibly it's age. It's great to see this kit built so beautifully and to a standard that truly belonged in the travel agents or airlines show room back in the day when advertising was more of a physical means to attract.

A real gem of a build - I love it. Reminds me of a DC10 or L1011 cutaway kit I once attempted back in the 70's

You really done this old kit good justice and the modifications add excellence

A real stunner of a 747 - it's in a league of its own.

Thank you very much.

Thats what I tried to achieve with it,a close as possible travel agency look.

I built the cutaway TriStar as well a while ago.

I find these kits very tempting and I have the old Caravelle from Lindberg, the Revell Rotodyne and the Comet with those interior designs.

Needs a lot of time to build them though...

Wow! That kit has brought back memories. Not that I ever had it, but because I really wanted it 🤤 (Never happened).

Great to see it built up although I was a bit taken aback with the aircraft name? "HUGE" Viking?  I mean you couldn't make it up, could you???

I had to investigate, and it turns out that it's a true story - SE-DDL "Huge Viking" 😁

Great job - thanks for posting.

Otherwise I will post some pics here in the thread.

Thank you very much Mike.

You are right. When I saw the name,I checked that too.

If ever an aircraft name matched better, then it is "Huge" Viking😄

Another wonderful result Alex. I really don't know how you manage to be so productive but maintain such high standards. The interior is amazing and fully justifies all your work.

What? You didn't bother to paint 300+ tiny figures to go in all those carefully-painted seats? Tut, tut...😉

Seriously, that looks great and I deeply admire your patience!

It's nice to see a Boeing door finally stay closed during a flight; although, it seems like there's a problem with the fuselage skin.  😛

Beautiful model, that would've been a chore to finish.
