ModelingEdmontonian Posted December 5, 2024 Posted December 5, 2024 (edited) I have been watching and appreciating this GB for weeks, especially all the Hurricanes, but other projects have had my focus. But, surely I have time still to slip this little guy in? Edited January 3 by ModelingEdmontonian 7
ModelingEdmontonian Posted December 5, 2024 Author Posted December 5, 2024 These are lovely kits--two to a box, but I'll just build one. Look at the lovely decal sheet! I think I'll build JX-G, although many of the options are super attractive! 9
81-er Posted December 5, 2024 Posted December 5, 2024 I'm sure this will be a nice little build, having seen some of your previous Sweet models James 1 1
ModelingEdmontonian Posted December 5, 2024 Author Posted December 5, 2024 The way Sweet does these kits is one of them is made 100% from clear styrene, which is interesting to work with. It would make things very difficult if the kit wasn't so perfectly designed... but the kits are basically perfect and are an absolute joy to work with. In no time at all, mostly it's all together. 8 1
Tim R-T-C Posted December 5, 2024 Posted December 5, 2024 Ghost Hurricane! It was a clever way to reduce production costs, including the canopy pieces on the main sprue. 1 1
81-er Posted December 6, 2024 Posted December 6, 2024 A great idea, the Germans would never see them coming... I'll get my James 1 4
ModelingEdmontonian Posted December 6, 2024 Author Posted December 6, 2024 Getting ready for a spray of primer... And finally with primer on you can see the darn thing! 8
ModelingEdmontonian Posted December 20, 2024 Author Posted December 20, 2024 I will spray the wheels and prop black with my rattle can this weekend when it warms up . . . . . . meanwhile, I've been painting the underside--aluminum in the wheel wells, and white on the port side. 6
ModelingEdmontonian Posted December 23, 2024 Author Posted December 23, 2024 I have the wheels all painted up now . . . . . . and I have started on the prop. 8
ModelingEdmontonian Posted December 28, 2024 Author Posted December 28, 2024 The underside camo is hard, especially since I have a bad attitude about masking... Might be good enough for me, but hardly crisp. 5
ModelingEdmontonian Posted December 28, 2024 Author Posted December 28, 2024 I have started brushing dark earth on the upper side... 4
ModelingEdmontonian Posted December 30, 2024 Author Posted December 30, 2024 I finished painting the Watts prop . . . . . . and (mostly) finished with the dark earth (might need some touch ups), then gave it a coat of Pledge. Next to the dark green. That was Tamiya XF81, but I don't think it's dark enough, so I tried again with my Vallejo. Closer... 5
LorenSharp Posted January 1 Posted January 1 That has to be the most intricate painting job on an object that small I've ever been witness to, Stunning! 1

Certainly the most intricate paint job I have ever attempted in 1/144! Doesn't look so stunning up close, but appreciate the comments! Decals are on now. The exhaust stubs on the Sweet kits stick out too far, it's probably their only fault. I keep thinking I might try to fix it, but here I am again having not bothered. 6
LorenSharp Posted January 4 Posted January 4 Beautiful finish! I like it and I don't like nothin'! Thanks for sharing! 1
Beardybloke Posted January 4 Posted January 4 That's a lovely build! I'm sorely tempted to get one or two as I'm sure I could find a place for them on my future model railway plan... 1
