Here is another tribute to the late Tony Pond who was an exceptional driver in any sense. He was the man behind the 6R4 and I wanted to commemorate his work with a winning race, the 1986 Manx Rally which he won in a great style. The Belkits kit is a very good base, with some improvement it can be a decent model. Anyway, I had some good fun with the kit, still doing it in the old style scratch :)

Again, @rallyfan99, absolutely exceptional work. What a beautifully presented tribute

Your attention to detail makes this look like the actual car in 1:1. Amazing!

My goodness ! The detail you've put into the engine is superb. Those trumpets, it's a shame to hide them under the filters !

I've built the same kit and wished at the time the rear hatch was made to open .

Brilliant work 👏

That is a lovely bit of work! What amazing detail on the engine. Man it must have been loud and hot in there!

Amazing job.  Superbly built, finished and super-detailed.  That powerplant is a work of mechanical art in itself and you've modelled it beautifully.

I have fond memories of the 6R4 being thrashed around the rallycross circuits at Brands Hatch and Lydden Hill (just down the road from us) in the hands of the indescribable Will Gollop.  Great fun, great spectacle.

That is wonderful. It so catches the look of the original, not that I've ever seen one out here, but I've seen pichers of em. :)

That is, quite simply, the BEST 1/24 rally car model I have ever seen, absolutely astonishing detail - the screwheads in the front splitter, the fliuid resevoir, the engine details, the interior - all just superb work! And your paintwork and decalling are lovely too!

Another amazing tribute to a brilliant rally driver!

Top,top work!

Absolutely amazing build of a bonkers beast. Love that picture of the engine shoehorned in where the shopping bags should go… Brilliant scratch detailing and excellent paintwork. I love it!

best,

M.

The guys have said it all , I always liked this car , especially because she didn't have a real chance to fight and was forgotten

by almost everyone.😉

Despite not being a huge rally fan, I've always had a soft spot for the 6R4.  I think its because when I was a lad bombing around in my 1.4 metro in my head that is what I was driving 😁.  Now this is where you owe me an apology as I had just convinced myself I didn't need this kit, however after seeing this build how can I resist? 😆😅.  Not that mine would ever reach this standard - Andy

Great build of an iconic British car 👏

I've got one in the stash to build at some point, but you've set the bar way to high for my skills. You've given me a few ideas to be getting on with though

Thanks Keith for your words but my aim is not making the best, but just have fun, watching old videos of the era during the build. That is where my inspiration comes from and I am happy if a can share. Maybe some can get some ideas or solutions from the build :)

A stunning model you’ve made there,we’re all jealous now! Is the photo etch provided in the kit? Chris.

Thanks Kitkent, the photoetch is included in the kit. However the quality of the photoetch is not that great, being thick steel, difficult to bend

That is outstanding!  A great build of what was a bit of a bonkers car and a great tribute to Tony Pond

Thats nice, I can see you have made a lot of changes to the kit!

What did you make the air filters from?
