Boeing 737-800 ,Caribbean Airways,Revell 1/144

The Revell 737-800 came out first around 1999 and was the only one of the NG versions for a long time as an injection moulded kit until Zvezda came out with a new -800 kit and shortly after the -700.

Those are clearly above in terms of accuracy but the Revell kit is worth building nonetheless.

Corrections to be made,can be found here on BM,which were a great help for my recent builds,esp. for the engines.

 

After the heavy corrections on the engines,the rest of the build is straight forward,I only had to reshape the winglets,as Revell moulded them completely wrong.

Painting is easy too,as the aircradt is overall white with grey wings.

The decals are,if I remember correctly,from 26decals.

Another excellent model Alex. I sold all my Revell 738s when the Zvezda kit came out and it's nice to be reminded that with a bit of work the Revell kit can produce a fine result.

This one is very nice and close to my heart too - I looked at it yesterday which left me reflecting back to my days living in the West Indies - a time when BWIA came to an end and this livery sprang into life - they were a frequent spot while they circled past our home in Jolly Harbour on their way down into VC Bird. A sad 3 or 4 years for me, at a time when we watched the BWIA -500 Tristars go and then the BWIA A340's go and then along came this airline to join it all back together again.

 

Very nice indeed, and probably one of the rarer choices of decals to use too.

Thank you very much Dave.

Despite their faults,they are still worth building.

The Zvezda kit may be more accurate but the Revell version offers an easier build due to its fewer parts.
