Another Airfix 707,and I wont probably be doing another one...

The changes/corrections,I tried to make are explained in the VARIG RFI.

This is the Airfix re-issue with very nice BOAC / Air India decals.

To make sure, the blue front would not wrinkle,I cut those sections off the decals and airbrushed this area by using Humbrol Royal blue.It matches perfectly with the decals.

The BOAC logos for the engines are quite iffy to place over the pylons but the rest of the decals work fine.

Here I chose to make an inflight model and used an original Airfix stand for it.

Cheers

Alex

I can't keep up with all of the excellent airliner models displayed here recently.

Lovely model Alex.

Absolutely gorgeous.  I believe the nose radome was black, but that's a small detail.  It's my favorite scheme, but I prefer it on the -320B/C.

Nice work, I am old enough to remember seeing these flying out of LHR…

wow that's a cracker - I don't think Airfix envisaged their old kit being made to look so beautiful. She looks great.

now over to your Varig build to see what you've also got

Super, you'd hardly know it was such an old kit.

It's also very nostalgic for me because I built one in that scheme in the early seventies. I didn't paint it of course but I was very pleased with it.  I also built an Airfix 727 in the TWA scheme which I did paint.

Alas the 707 came to a tragic end when my little sister borrowed it without asking for some kind of show and tell at school. When I came home. I found it with a fractured fuselage.

My sister was completely unabashed. She explained she'd fallen and broken it  as she rushed to school. She showed me her grazed knee as if I cared. 🤣 She came back and took the 727 instead.

Despite that she's still my favourite sister. She later bought me a Frog Sea Fury in compensation. So I forgave her.

Another lovely, nostalgic model Alex. You certainly have been busy recently! Like your Varig model I am amazed at how good the wings look despite the horrible joint on the upper surface. It takes effort and skill to achieve a result like that.

Beautiful work on a genuine classic. The 707 will always be, in some people's eyes, among the most beautiful of the jet airliners of its era.

I did not notice that about the radome.I might check again,I am also planning to replace the cockpit window with an AA decal,so this would be a good oportunity to correct that area👍

The wings took a lot of work to get them together. If you sand down the inside join and dryfit,a lot can be achieved and it saves much filling and sanding

Yes,the 707 has a very classy design, something not to be achieved anymore I guess, now that computers have taken over the airliner design...hallo AI....(A.ll I.dentical)

I take it she has seniority now as a pilot-in-command?  Or is she an Air Vice Marshall?

An interesting "fix" to avoid decals creasing round the nose Alex, having messed up a couple of BOAC builds for the same reason I'll have to try your idea out.
