Pz.Kpfw.IV Ausf G - Winterketten tracks

Hi, I'm sorry if you followed my build for this one as most of these are the same photos! This was my second AFV build having learned a lot from my first and it seemed a really interesting subject. It's a straight out of the box build with no additional parts (except for some Eureka cable) and have been really impressed with the quality of the RFM kits.

 

The figures are a mixture of Tamiya and Zvezda and I'm not sure that figure painting is my strong point, but I'm happy with the overall finished diorama. Will learn for next time!

 

So, one Panzer IV, well battle-worn and then shown in place on the winter diorama, with just some melting snow to complete the picture. Thanks for viewing.

Nice diorama and the panzer looks great - excellent weathering for only your second attempt! I’d say you’ve got AFVs pretty much nailed.

Thanks, I've been enjoying doing something new - thankful too for plenty of information (and advice) available on-line!

Excellent job all round Paul, but if I had to pick out one item, it would be the exhaust muffler. So hard to get a rusty item looking realistic, but you nailed it. Spot on mate.

Thanks John. Secret of the exhaust was a first coat of matt black mixed with some slate dust, to give it some body! After that two different rust colours dabbed on with an almost dry brush and it seemed to work!

That looks great in its scratched winter dress! I also like the vignette and the figures a lot (although I think this vehicle should be displayed in the snowy windy steppe 🎅)

Thanks, I wasn't sure what type of scene to do for this one ..... maybe I should do something like you suggest. I quite like the 'winter coat' look as well!

Nice one... The battle worn look coupled to the winter scheme is excellent. 

 

The sag in the tracks and exhaust are stand outs in what is a really nicely presented diorama. 

 

What's next on the bench?

Thanks, as a bit of a diversion I have an RFM 234/2 Puma on the bench and then I'm going to revisit the Tiger 1, but this time with a Takom Ausf E late model. Hopefully do better than my first model and gives me a chance to work with the Friul tracks!
