Popular Post HL-10 Posted December 3, 2024 Popular Post Posted December 3, 2024 This is the Academy kit released by Hobby 2000 with decals for two Vietnam Aces. I chose to model Colonel Robin Old's Phantom. A straight out of the box build, except for the ECM pod, courtesy of Hasegawa added on the starboard outer pylon, and some left over etch added to the canopy rails. The model was painted with Mr Color acrylics. Thanks for looking Angelo. 64 2 8 1
Geoffry M Posted December 3, 2024 Posted December 3, 2024 You nailed it! Excellent paint job and realistic weathering. Col. Olds would love it 1

Bobby No Mac Posted December 3, 2024 Posted December 3, 2024 I really like the glint of light in the crew's visors in that first picture. Nicely done all round 1
Charles68 Posted December 4, 2024 Posted December 4, 2024 Hi, great SEA finish! That is really well presented. Just curious on the placement of the ECM pod as I've never seen it on the outboard pylon but usually in the forward port Sparrow bay. Great job! 1
Tomcat101 Posted December 4, 2024 Posted December 4, 2024 Fantastic work. The camouflage and subtle weathering are excellent. Well done. 1

I thought it went there to, but apparently the first occasions ECM pods were used in Vietnam they did replace the starboard tank with them. I asked for advice on this and these were my answers: Thanks for all the comments and compliment guys, greatly appreciated. It has been pointed out that I have put the wrong type of stabilators on. They should be the unslotted ones, so I will change them over as soon as
georgeadams Posted December 4, 2024 Posted December 4, 2024 Great result! I ordered the Hobby2000 kit as soon as it became available, after just having read Robin Olds' biography. I will keep your photos as a reference for when I manage to build it. 1
Chrisj2003 Posted December 4, 2024 Posted December 4, 2024 Love the weathering on this loaded rhino. Chris 1
