Popular Post russ c Posted November 28, 2024 Popular Post Posted November 28, 2024 Howdy All, Thought it was about time I replaced my previous SEAC Thunderbolt build, so here I am, come to bother you with some pic`s of my latest effort. My latest go at Tamiya`s 1/48 p-47 Razorback kit Built as usual pretty much as Mr Tamiya intended with just wire engine harness and aerial wire added Completed to represent an aircraft of 146 Squadron RAF, based in India Sept `44 Decals came from Xtradecals set X48-115 `Yanks with roundels` Pt 4 The notes on the decal instructions mentioned some `poorly painted` areas on the rear fuselage and a fresh patch of paint on the engine cowling........ .......so I scoured the internet for some photo`s but only came up with one very poor photo from which I couldn`t make anything out really So I just went with the fresh patch of paint on top of the cowling Hope I haven`t bothered you too much🙂 Thanks for looking, cheers Russ 75 2 9 6
MikeC Posted November 28, 2024 Posted November 28, 2024 Nice Compared with US examples you don't see many done in this scheme which is a shame as it really suits the Thunderbolt: as demonstrated here. 1
Zagor Posted November 28, 2024 Posted November 28, 2024 Great model, great job on weathering and great pictures! I love this colors and marking on Razorback! 1
stevehnz Posted November 28, 2024 Posted November 28, 2024 Nice one indeed Russ. I did this aircraft in 1/72 for the P-47 STGB at the end of last year. A good looking subject, the Kiwi connection made it an easy choice. I'm bound to say though, your one looks better than mine. Steve. 1
Dave Klaatu Posted November 29, 2024 Posted November 29, 2024 That's a really nice build, and the background you set it up with! Well done! 1
ColinChipmunkfan Posted November 29, 2024 Posted November 29, 2024 The build is excellent Russ and the pictures genuinely look like the real thing. Well done sir!! Colin 1
Duncan B Posted November 29, 2024 Posted November 29, 2024 That's really nice and not a scheme I had seen before. Duncan B 1

Dunny Posted November 29, 2024 Posted November 29, 2024 Russ, Lovely effort - definitely no evidence of poor painting on the rear fuselage! Cheers, Roger 1
Charles68 Posted November 29, 2024 Posted November 29, 2024 Still dont know how you get those results with a brush LOL! Great work as always. 1
Ad-4N Posted November 29, 2024 Posted November 29, 2024 Goodness, what a gorgeous T-Bolt!!! Amazing craftsmanship. Tell me about your PSP and the background photo, please. 1
neilspen Posted November 30, 2024 Posted November 30, 2024 Wow, a superb finish. This is one of the best finishes I have seen this year. The setting really adds to that. The P47 is one of my faves and your work is up there as a fave finished model. 🏆 1
georgeusa Posted November 30, 2024 Posted November 30, 2024 An amazing looking P-47 that I believe is brush painted; making it all that more amazing a finish. Thanks for sharing. 1
2996 Victor Posted November 30, 2024 Posted November 30, 2024 Superb RAF Thunderbolt! It's great to see this excellent kit so beautifully finished in a not-often-modelled scheme! Cheers, Mark 1
David H Posted December 1, 2024 Posted December 1, 2024 Nice looking model, Russ. The photo of the parked Thunderbolts wingtip to wingtip, with the three plane "Vic" flying overhead is one of those images permanently etched in my mind. -d- 1
Karearea Posted December 1, 2024 Posted December 1, 2024 Superb, what a beautiful Thunderbolt. The code NA-C is very apt for the NZ connection! 1
