Hi Pat

lovely Christmas present. It is a lovely kit but soooooo many parts.  I have built a couple and they are a great kit- just don’t expect

quick results.  I am sure you will enjoy your present

Yes Chris I see that it has 133 parts of various types, so I need to go steady when I'm allowed to touch/open it!

The only parts that need to be painted are the Option 719 upgrade parts made by Meng in that brown box and Lambda Probes + Valve Stems. Otherwise, it's just building without glue or paint.

The last thing I was waiting for finally arrived!

spacer.png

I was firstly surprised by how small the box is! Much smaller than the Aoshima box and this one also contains a man and a Motocompo!

Although I’d read a comparison between the two models, I hadn’t realised that the Tamiya is a City Turbo and the Aoshima is a City Turbo II. So, absolutely worth having both of them, then

That generation seems to have been quite well-served, Tamiya also did the lower-spec City R:

Driver's hand gesture looks a little unfortunate from this side, or is he smoking an invisible cigarette?

And the Cabriolet:

Yes, they had it pretty well covered! I’m pretty sure someone still produces a City R model, or something that looks like a lower spec version.

Micro Ace (Arii?) do it: https://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10032854

Includes not only the Motocompo but also tennis racquets and a boombox!

Yes, that’s the one! Tennis racquets and a boombox is way better than a middle aged fella pretending to be a student

Alfa TZ2 in 1/12th from Model Factory Hiro, welcome to the pile!! I should note that the 1000SP, 512F1, and BT52 are completed, so it's not QUITE as bad as it looks 🤣

Still not sure what I'd like to start next, a lot of compelling options.

Not a kit but related to car modelling.

My son surprised me with a number of issues of Auto Modeller magazine from back in the 80's that featured some articles of mine in them.

Really pleased with them as my original copies have been long lost over the years.

I hope you all had a great Christmas, another gtr added to the growing collection, this one from hasegawa, kitbashed with the tamiya skyline 2000ht running gear, and engine bay bits, this should make for a pretty convincing build.

Mock up

Popped my SpotModel cherry earlier this month and a package arrived just before Christmas (after a customs fee). I got some wheels, tyres, detail set and Michèle Mouton decals for the Nunu Audi Quattro that I'm lining up for the Eighties GB.

I also couldn't resist a decal sheet for the Tamiya Alfa Giulia.

Those Alfa decals look like a great choice, I'm sure that'll be beautiful. Same goes for the Audi.

Great choice with the Quattro decals and accessories, looking forward to your build of that 👍

Just bought this built resin kit, actually “factory built” by the maker JPS, of a 1/10 scale 1991 Renault RS03 V10 engine. JPS sold both kits and built models of this in the early 90’s. I have a complete untouched kit in my stash, but could not resist this one when it turned up for a good price on a Swedish auction site. The cover had to come off as the engine was a little loose on its support after transit and also needed a light dusting off.
