Kallisti Posted November 23, 2024 Posted November 23, 2024 (edited) Had this kit in the stash for more years than I care to remember but decided last week it was time to get it out and get it done and it just so happened I finished it on the same date that Dr Who was first broadcast in 1963! Its the old Airfix kit from 2007 with David Tennant's Dr and Martha figures, but I haven't built the figures as I really only wanted the Tardis. Considering its 'just' a box, its not a straightforward build! I dumped the awful sound card and speaker mechanism, which sadly also meant the blue flashing light has gone as well, but the mechanism buried into the roof makes it hard to get everything to fit inside properly. Plus its supposed to be clip on but I found if you don't have the roof glued on, its REALLY hard to get this to go square Box: Tardis: Oh dear, look who just turned up to IN-SPECT-IT!!! I used Tamiya XF-8 blue for the blue paint and gave it a good dirt wash to bring out the wood grain effect on the plastic. The windows were all masked and sprayed but the roof light was hand painted as its just too small to mask Now I just need to reverse the polarity of the neutron flow, and everything will be right! Allons-y! Edited November 23, 2024 by Kallisti 27 2 1 1
donkeychomp Posted November 26, 2024 Posted November 26, 2024 That's great! Who would have thought it? (sorry, sorry) Alex 3
Donald Posted November 27, 2024 Posted November 27, 2024 Now, if they had done a Patrick Troughton figure I'd have been up for that. Airfix missed a trick here: they could have done an inside the Tardis model, too. 1
Jasomir Posted December 4, 2024 Posted December 4, 2024 A good Tardis kit should have many, many, many parts for the interior ..... Well, but even if it is not larger inside than it suggests outside, your model is great! Marcus 1
Lothian man Posted December 5, 2024 Posted December 5, 2024 Corgi used to do a Tardis, well Police Box, kit c. 1960 in a paired set of phone boxes. They would have been 1/43 scale I assume. No idea if any Dr Who sets emerged! https://www.lastdodo.com/en/items/6468883-aa-rac-telephone-boxes-kit 1

RossFMJ Posted Friday at 07:50 PM Posted Friday at 07:50 PM Wow, very effective paint job, it looks real...............the Tardis is real, right? 1
Kallisti Posted Sunday at 01:16 PM Author Posted Sunday at 01:16 PM Well Police Boxes were real back in the day, I can remember them as a child. 1
Bandsaw Steve Posted Monday at 01:40 PM Posted Monday at 01:40 PM Ironic that it’s ‘difficult to get everything to fit inside it’ 🤣 Good job though. 👍 1
