One 48 Posted November 17, 2024 Posted November 17, 2024 Not a review, more a heads-up if you like Have been meaning to add this 4K disk to my collection for ages, it was a long time coming, with Cameron stalling, delaying and promising ETC. Then, when the 4K UHD release was announced, our beloved UK censors decided the rat scene had to be cut before it could have an official 4K UHD release here in UK, absolutely stupid when we consider they allowed this on original cinema release, VHS ETC. So Cameron decided no cuts ... and I dont blame him, so no UK release for this one in 4K. Anyhoo. Eventually got hold of it yesterday, had to import it, (£35 + yikes!) but it defaults to English language and directors cut, it's a 4 disc package with both versions on UHD and normal blu ray x 2 discs. + 2 other discs of extra's I've yet to explore. Thoroughly enjoyed it, had deliberately not watched it for years, awaiting this release, it was worth the wait, classic tense film, one of Camerons best. 3

Such a shame but I understand the reasoning I'll stick with my DVD for now in the hope that someone relents I remember the first time I saw this was late night on Channel 4, complete with the rat 2

Absolutely stupid is the MO these days. The damn rat didn't even die! Mind you, people are so stupid these days, they'd probably think that any old pink water would do. Surprised they didn't also cut Ed when he does it too. Thing was, they used the real fluid for the rat, so it was a genuine water breathing rat, but not for Ed. He had to hold his breath, and almost lost it a few times. There were lots of near-misses where people almost drowned on set, I believe. 3
Pete in Lincs Posted November 17, 2024 Posted November 17, 2024 Still a cracking thriller. It was a rat for goodness sake! And it lived! What is happening to this planet? Bunch of softies. It's even rated 15. So no five year olds should see it and be traumatised for life! 1

Which version did you import - is it a US multi-region disk, or a European Region B import ? 1
One 48 Posted December 8, 2024 Author Posted December 8, 2024 (edited) Hi Ian, erm not really sure TBH, but will post a pic of its cover soon ... pls remind, will probably forget It's a 4 disk ver and correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't all 4K UHD, you buy anywhere region globally free now? And that's along overdue change I have a couple of 4K UHD players now, and it works fine with both, with no hacks or mods we used to have to do. EDIT: Vid answer I just looked at Edited December 8, 2024 by One 48 1 1
