Great work with all of that, but especially the tie. I wouldn't paint that either

Nice work on the extra bits in the base .... especially the 'goo' of our poor victim!

This just gets better with every update! :clap2:

Johnny you are an artist! Oh yeah, I remember now, nuff said! :)

Caught up now; stunning work. Your shading and chipping is perfect and, like others, I'm envious of the apparent ease with which you bring this stuff to life.

I loved the film, a true classic. Don't listen to 'that music' though - you know what happens and it'd be a shame to spoil all that great work!

Ace job on the base, adds a lot of realism!

If we can call real any scene with a Martian  that is....

:rofl2:

Ciao

Thanks G. I was going to add more but I think this feels about the right amount of stuff. I’m still torn whether or not to add the news paper. 🤔

Thanks Keith. The goo has dried a bit matte so when I’m all done I’ll use my “wet” wash to gloss up the icky bits.

Ha! Very kind Mr B. I’m really loving this.  I have a few more (as you know) that I might get into this year. 🪰

Wowza! Work has been super busy at the mo and the BE2c has been keeping me busy at the bench but I haven’t forgotten about Mr Martian and his buddy.
a few touches to the scene. I added a knot to the tie and painted the underside black.

the bits are dry fitted until I finish his eye but this is almost done.

I’ll do the various top coats then add some wet washes to really bring it to life.

54330246075_90afc4a89b_b.jpg

I’m still torn whether or not to add blood splats. I’ve seen some wonderful techniques with blowing paint from a brush using and air brush. 🤔 I’ll do some tests.

And now the last real bit. Not 100% sure how to do the head so I’ll just dive in and practice as I go.

Eyes ant teeth masked and I stated with yellow.

54330063664_002109d029_b.jpg

Added some red to the mix.

54330064678_dcf01a624f_b.jpg

Green for his cheeky chop.

54328935797_420c846c22_b.jpg

Then some pure red to add depth.

54330064688_716e2e9bf3_b.jpg

And a little purple under shade.

54330063529_d082692f3b_b.jpg

After that dried for a little while I removed the masking fluid and glossed.

54330246025_6f68c0887c_b.jpg

Next washes and powders.  ❤️

Thanks for dropping by.
All comments welcomed.

Happy modelling Y’all.

The last bit of modeling for the weekend as I have the wine open.

Moving onto army painter washes for the head. Red watered down slightly for the brain.

54331713518_da8de49e74_b.jpg

And

54331713463_7c390705d2_b.jpg

And green for the fizzog.

54331894355_cc1b00a0d6_b.jpg

I’m going to use decals for the eyes as I don’t trust my positioning. 🤫🤭🤪

The victims eye got its pupil.

54331708964_9618be6882_b.jpg

And I used my wet effects on the tongue and eye.

54331488491_897138baaa_b.jpg

And the gutzz got a shiny goo filter too.

54331488606_2cf7d3e433_b.jpg

Thats yer lot.

fire on, wine open, chess board on the go.

Have a great rest of the weekend all.

Fantastic stuff Johnny!

I love the way the prosaic and weatherbeaten (and very nicely done) street contrasts with the brightly-coloured mayhem.

Sorry it’s been a while. I’ve been tinkering with my other build.
just to explain why I like to use decals for eyes. I can change the look of my build if I’m not happy with the ……. Well look.

looking down

54348114202_2c21a66c90_b.jpg

Up right.

54349420555_360eeecef4_b.jpg

Straight ahead

54349230978_5c625c49d4_b.jpg

up left.

54349230958_07c0b453bd_b.jpg

I quite like this last one. ❤️

So with a position chosen I matte coated the head.

54349420710_12dd32f690_b.jpg

Then used the wet effects to add wetness to the brain and eye baaaalls.

I also picked out the teeth.

54349230898_e5f2829a54_b.jpg

Pretty cool.

54349214014_7ee617654b_b.jpg

Helmet added with gators grip.

54348113992_97747b0f6e_b.jpg

And we’re almost there. Just a few spot effects, maybe some blood as mentioned. And the lamp needs some shading.
Talking about the lamp I hit a bit of a snag.

54349420790_403dc09213_b.jpg

Hmmmmm. I contemplated cutting down the post but it would look weird so I need to venture up into the loft to fish out my other display cabinet.  Which is no bad thing as I’ll have more space for more models. 🤩

Almost done. 🛸

Good evening all. Hope you’re having a great weekend.  I managed to get my spare cabinet from the loft last weekend and now Mr Martian has a home.

54391499153_aa9726e62a_b.jpg

I just need to finish him off.
List time.

1.Fix the dark flory errors that I’ve top coated.

2.Wire in the battery pack and make a bracket underneath.

3.paint the lamp light.

4.Add some wetness around the drain.

5.possibly toy with the idea of the news paper or fun lamp post poster thing.

Ok so start at the start. I’d accidentally top coated the flory was before knocking it back in some areas . So I decided to go over with a hairy stick and add some smoothing coats and high lights.

The rear was the worst offender. This looks better now.

54405646086_1801b20699_b.jpg

All the wiring got completed but that was boring so I didn’t take a pic.
But here’s the mid wire work while I masked the lamp.

54405882193_c6960b92fe_b.jpg

I wanted the lamp light to look comic style and a little bit like a pearl. So with subtle shades of yellow, purple and blue I got this.

54405645906_9edd53fdf5_b.jpg

looks like a Scooby doo crystal ball.

Here we are with masking off and touch ups done.

54405646371_8c1902930f_b.jpg

Almost there. I used the extreme mud sets water filter and added some wet areas around the drain. I really like that now. ❤️

54405881783_2e44e87e8f_b.jpg

and apart from a few tests at possibly adding a poster or what not I think we’re done.

I’m happy with the victim.

54405882168_e442b649de_b.jpg

And his wet gootz.

54406016485_e02013d5b3_b.jpg

Now excuse the thread drift but I couldn’t help but share that I’d bought another kit that I have been trying to find for an age. It is so hard to find even at silly prices. I had to resort to buying a built kit with a view to stripping back and starting again.
so I have this. (If you know, you know.)

54404766742_271ff57eae_b.jpg

I asked a few choice Britmodellers about stripping paint and this seemed to be a popular answer for enamels.

54405882093_66903e0629_b.jpg

So not wanting to destroy my rare beauty I just did a little bit. I present Mr scorpion.

54405912334_069d619155_b.jpg

here he is, in a bag with oven cleaner after about ten minutes.

54406016210_9712298aff_b.jpg

A good go over with a tooth brush. Aaaand ping!!!

54405821279_43486d0b38_b.jpg

Fantastic!!!!  I’m totally confident I can strip this back now so all parts are stashed for the coming build.  (Exciting)

As I’m almost done I’ll pop a few pics here before I get some RFI shots when the weather is better.

54404766607_fa79012751_b.jpg

And

54406016025_1d8609ef2f_b.jpg

Close up. Ak ak.

54404766852_8366495e6d_b.jpg 54405646006_6540454fe3_b.jpg

From behind (ooh err)

54405646511_b45413682a_b.jpg 54404766507_d9142ce219_b.jpg

and an action shot.

54406016310_45c3c9bd59_b.jpg

Thanks for tagging along. I hope you enjoyed the build as much as I did.  I’ll see if I can get an indoor RFI done if it doesn’t start to get warm soon.
I still need to do my year book for 24 too. 🙄

Ill update here before posting the final thread.

Take care y’all and have a great rest of your weekend.

Johnny.
