Clearly we are going to have to have whip round (no not that sort of whip you depraved lot) to fit the Naughty Corner with an all encompassing force field. I can't afford one out of my own pocket.

Need to be VERY careful what music you listen to, when building this one... An exploded head will not enhance the kit one bit.

Totally agree and I too have only just discovered this one Johnny. I must keep up!

Since Giorgio has mentioned paint, I assume it's safe to talk about that, in which case I reckon you'll have a field day when we do get to thet part, and we'll all love it!

Crack on maestro!

Another one late to the party here, Johnny, but loving what I'm seeing. I love the film as well, as a teen one of my favourite t-shirts was the Mars Attacks! one that came with the VHS

Hey BritModeller. Sorry it’s been a while but Happy new year to you all. As mentioned on my P-40  thread I’ve been having a bit of a rest from, well everything to re charge and get ready for the coming year.  Looking at some of your wonderful builds over the past few days has given me a jolt of inspiration to get back to the bench. So where were we?
ahh yes sanding! 🤔🤣

I sanded the post base which is actually good but doesn’t look it here.

54249111323_f3641fcfe6_b.jpg

Then onto the curb. The drain looked odd together so I googled it.

54249299005_ff1cd8fe48_m.jpg

The rim on the facing edge was missing so I decided to build one.

Plasticard to the rescue!

54249110798_f62a4cb69d_b.jpg

‘Oles and a ruler.

54248868431_61c17cb2a8_b.jpg

Then cut out and glued in place.

54247973397_b9f21bf74d_b.jpg

Ready after a little Sanding.

54249298865_51aa4bd340_b.jpg

I grabbed the nettle and started sanding all the bits that needed it (everything) 😩

this is a great looking kit but absolutely no thought has gone into where the seams can be hidden. Just right down the middle of his bumpy space suit. And to make matters worse the semi-transparent plastic calls for a primer coat to see if you’ve fixed the seam even a little.

54249124044_1a34a78fc1_b.jpg

But as they say, that’s where the fun’s at.🥳 so after much multi grit sanding and re scribing I’m getting somewhere.

54247973342_902c063c8c_b.jpg

It looks a little grainy if you zoom but I’ll smooth all that before a final prime coat.

i swear though the kit makers need only to have made the join at the edge of the rib to make this pain all go away. (Or is that pleasure? ) 🤫🤔

54249123729_e263fb29a4_b.jpg

Never had to re scribe brains before! 🧠

54249298890_ae594cbe97_b.jpg

Still a little work on the other side.

54249111173_080f548737_b.jpg

The joins have gone at the front now, just need to smooth over the rougher parts.

54249110873_acfbaa7fc0_b.jpg

The tanks got some attention and re scribing.

54249298905_0401d7aa2f_b.jpg

Not sure if lasers need ‘Oles but it looked a bit hoaky without.

54248868491_2464babdff_b.jpg

Sooo.

54248868286_871f7d7036_b.jpg

Everything got a dust down and a prime. A little more sanding to come but I think I’m over the worst of it now.

54249110963_dee9bc2596_b.jpg

also dry fitted the drain cover. Much better.

54247973402_70de2f8ab6_b.jpg

Thanks for dropping by.  All comments and suggestions welcomed.

Great to be back at it.  Looking over the pics I’m a bit concerned I’ve lost the victims head.

Must scoot upstairs to check the box.

More soon.  Happy modelling you lot.

 Johnny.

ps. Mr Victim’s head has been found. (Phew)

They could have, but that would have meant incorporating slides into the mold - and the tooling cost just doubled.

Well, maybe not doubled but you know what I mean.

Very nice fettling, Johnny. This model is really going to suit your style of painting - very much looking forward to that even tho'  I know it'll just depress me yet again 😁

It's great to see you back at the bench Johnny .... and hopefully inspired by the BM massive!

I like the work you've done on the seams .... good skills and not something I've completely mastered on figures yet! :worthy:

So, if you don't mind, can you crack on with the main painting event?
