I had three Super Snipe Series IIIs. I preferred the look over the flat-top Series V, but the Imperial was impressive for sure! My Series IIIs did 18 mpg at best.

Blimey! I was around 8 or 9 and was a passenger in one and always loved the Series V ever since. My Dad had a Rapier H120, blue-green colour I think with a black vinyl roof. He used to swear at it a lot if I recall.

The Jaguar mk2 was a teenager crush, then came the Jensen, Lotus ( Eclat or Elite mk 2 ) , then an incredible Alvis crossed my road near Monaco, after this I could tick the boxes for every single one of the special Fiat from the sixties, I still have a soft spot for early TVR, as you've guessed I litterally melt for Facel cars and cyclecars from the 1920's... but maybe a nice and nimble Lotus Seven could fit my ( small) garage and thin wallet 😋

I own a 2009 WRX (not an STI though, the premium over the standard Rex was... silly). It's very nice.

As to the OP - I have a long list of reasonable cars that I'd like, but mostly, I'd love to have my old RA23 Celica back again. Looked cool, handled well, and I loved the twin cam, twin carb 18RG under the bonnet.

And I've always had a yen for the TR-7, side swoosh and all.

Honestly until last year it was a mercedes e class coupe 14-16 spec as I love the over all look, for me it's one of those cars that I look back at eveytime I get out. Next step even though slightly out of reach would be either an escort cosworth with that big ol' wing on the back or an aston db9.

I could easily say something like an enzo or f40 but I know that unless things go really really well they will be forever out of my budget.

Early mk1 rabbit 2dr “swallowtail”, already owned one for 10yrs, would go back in (ask the wife first) heartbeat! I learned most of the issues first hand so going back would be a lot less trying the second time around.

Promised myself or lust after?

In 1968 I landed in the UK on my OE and had promised myself an MGA - and got a dove grey 1600 Mk2 on wire wheels.

It served me well till an accident at a tee junction in thick fog in Glasgow. Shipbuilders Morris Minor van drove into the A at

a stupid speed, hitting right at the strongest part of the chassis which did the van no good at all and unfortunately wrote of the A.

At the '68 Earls Court I spent ages on the Morgan stand and promised myself a Morgan. Did my research, settled on a Plus Four

and ideally a Supersport. At that time there had officially been 97 SS models built - miraculously the number started to increase as their value rose!

Finally found a SS spec 1961 Plus 4 which I rebuilt and used as daily driver, hillclimber, grand tourer, etc. It had the high line body which to me

meant it was not a SS but the build sheet showed it to have all the SS bits. By the time I sold it in 1990 it had somehow become officially the first SS built!

I promised myself a Norton 650SS in 1965 when my mates brother bought a new one. After selling the Mog I found a 650SS in a barn - see it does happen!

Last year after selling my last bike I looked to buy a classic car with a very broad shopping list - MGA, TR2/3/4, Morgan +4 or 4/4, big Healey - in fact anything except a Lotus.

After missing out on a Morgan, and realising at my age I could not hang around waiting for the right car to come up, I settled on the one car I had always derided - the

ultimate hairdressers car, an MX5!

As far as the lust list, well that would start at the possibly attainable big Healey, MGA Twin Cam, supercharged TC, HRG, chaingang Nash, and then expand to the probably not

possible Bugatti Type 35, or Bugatti Type 51, and then move to the not even remotely feasible ex-Ronnie Symondson Bugatti Type 57S Corsica.

I think the only car I’ve ever promised myself I’d get and then actually bought was the 04 Mazdaspeed MX-5. I enjoyed it for 12 years but sold it this past August. The SW20 MR2 Turbo and 944 Turbo have always stayed just out of my price range, so I’ll probably never own one. The window for a 1st generation RX-7 is probably already closing for me too.

There's a review on the tube by Jonny Smith of the new Skoda Superb estate. It's big, lowered and has 500 bhp! What else would you need?

Especially if it says 'Skoda' and 'VRS' on the badging!

Good topic, because during the spring I will find something for me and that will not be a new a car. Currently I am thinking between Alfa Junior1300 or Citroen SM. It might be that I will end up in Alfa.

Please do not laugh.

A Dacia Duster or Sandero. But Renault in Indonesia only sells Duster. So Duster it is.

If I'm being a little more aspirational, second- or third-gen Kia Picanto. Shockingly good car, that. I am currently owning a 2013 Kia Sportage, and the user experience has been nothing short of satisfying. My actual dream Kia would be the Stinger though. Tried one early this year, it was so good I am convinced it would have been a better buy than BMW 3-Series. Unfortunately after Kia Motors Indonesia changed ownership from independent company to Indomobil they outright refused to import any Stinger because according to Indomobil 'it won't sell and it will not worth the hassle'.

Keeping to the title of the thread , growing up my earliest memories of wanting a car  " when I'm older " my No 1 car of choice was a Guards Red Porsche 911 Turbo . I was obsessed by them and when Autocar Magazine recorded a 0 - 60 mph time in 5.1 seconds  , well I just had to have one !

Sadly my dream hasn't come true and my favourite fast car I owned was a white Vauxhall Nova GTE from 1988.

Currently I own a white 2016 VW  Golf GTD which does everything just so well and effectively.

Now , I'm off to put my lottery on and a deposit on that 911 Turbo....

I've just watched a 'Harry's Garage' video about all the ridiculous new tech in modern cars, especially the so called 'driver's aids' and how much hassle it is to turn them off. Someone in the comments posted that the new Duster has a single button that turns them all off! It would be worth buying one just for that!!

I wish Suzuki had fitted one to my 2024 Vitara!!

For me, an original Octavia VRs estate (I had the saloon version 20 years ago - it was great), or a VW Passat R36 estate.  A friend of mine had one a few years ago.  It had everything you could wish for - superb performance, and extremely practical, so one of these, please.

I understand what you are thinking. But current 911 turbo is perfect GT run trough Europe. It's not anymore that small car.

I've experienced 911 Turbo S once. It was a 991.1 Turbo S in Racing Yellow. It was during a roadtrip across Java Island. Over 150 miles, that thing performed basically flawlessly. On traffic it's not at all recalcitrant, on the bumpy roads the suspension soaks up road imperfections bar the absolute worst of speedbumps, and on motorway cruise it settles down nicely as a proper grand tourer. Yet with a flick of a switch it can turn into a savage rocketship. In straight line it easily devoured the GT3 RS (itself already ballistic). That experience will live forever rent-free inside my head. Oh and the Burmester sound system is top-notch. I know my dream 911 is a 991.2 GT3 Touring in Albert Blue, but for everyday stuffs I'd be more than happy to get a 991.2 Turbo S. In Saffron Yellow Metallic triple-layer colour, please.

I watched that too. If you scroll down I think you'll find my comment there hahahahah as I said there the last interesting modern cars in my book would be Alpine A110 (any of them), 992 S/T, new Aston Vanquish and all the upcoming Toyota/Lexus GR products (especially the upcoming Toyota GR GT3 roadcar/Lexus LFR). The rest of the new cars these days are just so remote and so distant I can't find their heart and soul. Bless Dacia for giving us simple motoring. Also a great shout-out from Harry to James Martin of JayEmm On Cars, another car channel that I follow almost religiously haha

There used to be a few on the list which have continually inflated beyond my continued efforts to save up to buy them:

- Audi Quattro 20V Turbo

- BMW E34 Alpina B10 Bi-Turbo

- BMW E34 3.8 M5

- Nissan Skyline R33 GT-R

I've just given up on being able to buy any one of them for reasonable money these days, so have bought a BMW F10 M5 instead. And to be frank, it can blow all of the above away. So I'm quite happy. I also have a 1966 Ford Mustang GT for when I want to pretend I'm cool.

I did achieve one car recently that I fell in love with immediately, and managed to get one as it was a more realistic goal.  A 2019 plate Peugeot 508.  I was looking for my next car when I had a Dacia Duster, which is a good car in general, and an exceptional car for the money, but I don't really like SUV's (it was a case of getting an affordable car for a family of 4).  Saw the 508 on Autotrader and fell in love with the styling immediately, told my wife I needed one.  Managed to get a great deal during the period after covid lockdown which made it affordable.  And I could not have been happier with it.  Everyone at work said hands down it was the best looking car in the car park.  It cruised so well on long journeys.  Handled the bends incredibly.  It was lots of fun in sport mode, and surprisingly quick.  And under normal driving I was averaging 46-54 mpg.  It was so comfortable, and the seats were amazing.  Genuinely gutted to get rid of it last year, but financially it made more sense to lease a hybrid through the NHS, and unfortunately that put me back in an SUV.  But the next one can be anything I want as my oldest is now driving, so I need to worry less about luggage space.  Still miss the 508 though, second best car I ever had.  Just look at her
