Was thinking about selling my old one, but it’s no use now. Would be nice to get a new decal sheet from Airfix, I reckon they could sell quite a few to people like us who still have older kits with less than stellar decals.

Meh.

Being somewhat younger than most on this forum, I have no nostalgia for these kits, presumably the "classic" kits are actually selling and making money for Airfix for little/no investment.

Being of the demographic that these Vintage classics are aimed at, the is the most welcome re release from Airfix to date. It's one I have never built and means my stalled railway/airport model gets the KUTA it needs.

My only issue is that I would have preferred the original Silver City livery as this fits the era for the layout. Hopefully there will be enough of a market for third party decals, to replicate them.

Really happy with this announcement, but surprised we got all the way to November for a Vintage Classics stealth release

Airfix already has my money. This is one I built (probably badly) as a sprog, and I really want another shot at it

26 Decals still have their Silver City Superfreighter decals available if that helps. I'm going to drop them a line to see if they would consider making the BAF sheet available again.

Does the price include sanding paper and a tube of filler?

That's not enough! Those trailing edges needs a heavy-duty file too!

Cheers,

I was under the impression Fly did one of those Superfreighters too, but I must be mistaken.

Mk.31s it was.  That'll do too.

Mah, I'm pretty old and have no nostalgia for this particulkar kit either.

But hey, didn't the Superfreighter appear in James Bond  "Goldfinger"?

Confusingly, Airfix refer to their modern kits as "classic" i.e. the classic style of kits, to differentiate from the Quickbuild range.

And £25 Quid each, LOL. I’ve got four. Trun boxings. What am I bid. LOL. I’m watching a YT Video about Airfix not producing what people ask for. Like they did last time, ignoring most people and  releasing the Beagle Bassett, LOL. Over five years ago. Don’t expect things to change any time soon. Until they almost go bust.

We'll see if the Skyvan gets to see the light of day again...or the Islander.

Let's hope

This isn't modern, it's nearly old enough for my grandad to have built

Or any of the 1:32 road cars, as opposed to the sports cars.

I built one at the age of around 9 or 10. It had  the Silver City decals. Later I had later boxings all which I sold. But now I’ll have to re stock with a couple.  Seriously hoping for the Skyvan and Islander too.

A tube? You need at least a truckload! (Which reminds me - buy shares in Milliput ...)

I'd be the same.....I really don't get the whole 'nostalgia/classic kit thing' at all. I battled with all of those kits in my youth and have no desire whatsoever to repeat the experience, there are too many far, far better kits available now for me to build.

Which is a fair point,  and I'm with you on that,  except a check at Scalemates

https://www.scalemates.com/search.php?fkSECTION[]=All&q=*BRISTOL+SUPERFREIGHTER

Shows if you want a Bristol Superfreighter in 1/72nd, this is your only option, so it does have a certain logic.

Be interesting to see where this is moulded,  and what the QC is like.

My main nostalgia memory of this was reading a scratch built Bristol Brigand article that used the engines!

Probably an Airfix Annual in the library...  This jog a memory? @Richard Humm

I buy them because they weren't available to me growing up.

one interesting point about the kit here

"The first issue has a real period feel about it.

Airfix had only just acquired the means to mould kits of this size the previous year, with the introduction of the Lancaster. A Superfreighter isn't the first plane that springs to mind to follow a Lanc, but there you are."

They really should have re used this box art

Thanks to @TonyW  for the collecting all these and taking the photos
