Here's my seventh completion of the year, Airfix's 1/48 Boulton Paul Defiant, in the markings of 264 Squadron, based at Hornchurch in August 1940:

A very nice kit to build, with some nice design choices and options. I did use the Eduard canopy mask set (because unless you really enjoy masking it's virtually an essential), the Master Gun barrels and pitot set, the AML camouflage mask set and a set of Barracuda wheels, as they are nicer than the kit parts and crucially, do not have a big sink mark in one of the wheel hubs :D Oh, and some Quickboost exhausts, too.

The model was painted with Colourcoats Dark Earth, Dark Green, Sky and interior green. The markings were one of the two 264 Squadron Defiants offered in the kit, the other being an all-black nightfighter (in the most recent boxing anyway). Final coat was AK Interactive satin varnish with a bit of their Ultra-matt varnish mixed in. The turret glass looks kind of cloudy in the pictures but this was just the reflected light, it actually being quite a lovely day in Dundee today (so far at least :D)

Thanks for your attention,

Cheers,

Stew

Now that is really nice, I am still waiting for a 1/32 scale Defiant but 1/48 is too small and fiddley for me, though I did once build a 1/48 Classic Airframes Westland Whirlwind as there was no 1/32 scale one available.

Special Hobby fixed that for me so hopefully someone else will bring out a Defiant in 1/32 scale to rescue me.

Since when did you build 1/48? :D I really have been away too long!

Thought I'd better make an effort to conserve my remaining Colourcoats stocks Jamie, 1/32 is a bit thirsty :D

Dennis, you're right there, a 1/32 Defiant would make my year and I'm convinced that's a when rather than an if, but I've been thinking that for years and not been proved right yet...  :D

This is a lovely Defiant- I think you’ve actually convinced me to build mine in TLS rather than the nightfighter markings.

Beautiful work!

Lovely. I too used the AML masks; a bit stiff but worked well

Sometimes it is just nice and refreshing to see a well built and finished clean model that looks factory fresh rather than having served for 2 years without any maintenance at all.  Great build and thanks for sharing.
