Winged Hussar Posted November 2 Posted November 2 Hello everyone, I've been lucky enough to come into the possession of a couple Roden 1/72 Fokker D.VI model kits. Were there any recorded colour schemes without the lozenge pattern camouflage? Thanks, Stephen.
e8n2 Posted November 3 Posted November 3 In the old Pocket Encyclopedia of World Aircraft in Color Fighters 1914 - 1919 by Kenneth Munson, on page 65 is a drawing of the Fokker D.VI with green/purple topsides and light blue under surfaces. It was used on the Russian front. How accurate the drawing is anybody's guess, but at least it doesn't have lozenge on the wings. Later, Dave 1
Macsporran Posted November 6 Posted November 6 (edited) Many years ago, I made a 1/48 Eduard Fokker D.VI in the colours shown in the old Munson Blandford book - supposedly an Eastern Front machine. Subsequently I have researched the subject extensively and have found no evidence - photo etc - to back up the scheme. When I recently made a 1/32 Roden kit of the subject I opted for lozenge as I don't really think the Munson one existed. However there is a ref there, if you wish to do it in green and mauve, blue underneath with white wheel discs - nobody can disprove it. Here is an old picture of my Eduard (Munson) model, for what it's worth! Edited November 9 by Macsporran 1 1
