Faraway
Back to my 'normal' scale, 1/350, with this from HobbyBoss. H.M.S. Agamemnon, a Lord Nelson Class Battleship, which was launched in 1906. (spot the mistake) A nice simple paint job, although I did wonder if she was ever in dazzle ? Then I thought b@@@@@r that, grey is good. Although the instructions give no hint, evidently the rigging can be quite complex, sort of a throw back to the days of sail. So I shall be doing a bit of research, to at least try to rig her. This is where you chaps come in, if anyone knows of any references to the rigging I'd be grateful. And talking about rigging, the plastic masts are quite bendy, so I'll probably be replacing them with scratch brass ones Detail on the hull is reasonable, with lots of scuttles to drill out (oh goody) I usually replace something with 3D parts, but in this instance I'm going more or less 'Out Of The Box'. Photo etch look nice. This is my 'more or less' moment. I don't have to paint the deck. So that's what's in the box. First task, drill out the scuttles. Then assemble the hull halves and make a wooden base, no sea scape today. Jon
Andy H
Ooooh, nice! 😎 Rigging you say? I'm sure there's nothing here that a chap of your calibre can't handle... Bonus shot that might prove useful... Looking forward to being inspired by this one - I've got a Collusus in the stash, going to be a while until I get around to it (real life still keeping me from the workbench, despite my best efforts). Have fun, and good luck! 👍
robgizlu
Interesting - and that rigging looks bonkers - clearly they were missing sails Rob 2

Ngantek
Oo, looks fun. Nice to just build some plastic out of the box from time to time. Shame she post dates the black and white paint era, which might have preserved your colourcoats grey stocks a little longer! Andy

Jon Yes, good luck with the rigging. At least you can put that to the back of your mind for a little while at least. Always enjoy looking through your builds, I’m sure this will be no exception
beefy66
Great kits these from HB I built the Lord nelson few year back it was interesting doing the cage aerials really tests your French skills. Stay Safe beefy
nearsightedjohn
It’s a great kit which I had fun building (and posting two years ago here) I went with minimal rigging (mostly based on other builds posted and a few diagrams I found online) and I chickened out on the caged aerials. Unlike some kit supplied PE, the HobbyBoss PE is pretty good. I’m struggling with PE supplied with the Trumpeter Tsesarevich now, I’m finding it very fragile/ unforgiving/ challenging. You build beautiful ship models Jon, looking forward to see what you do with this one!
S-boat 55
I shall follow along Jon, I'm always interested in these but never quite take the plunge and buy one, Look forward to seeing your progress as always Sam

But I have found some PE aerial spreaders, which I think I’ll get. Jon
Tegethoff
Looking forward to seeing what you do with this! Are you sure you don't want to try this? I hear there is a surplus of Tamiya masking tape that needs to be cleared. Micha_Pol
Very good choice of subject, I have her sistership here, waiting; I have, in fact, done some digging and checking of the kit and came up with the folowing issues (overall, the kit is really great though): - The propellers are wrong; both ships had 4 bladed propellers - All 4 underwater torpedo tubes are missing, there were four fixed broadside tubes - Kit lacks one anchor, two are proveded, yet the ships carried three - There was a prominent waist chute on each braodside, clearly visible in alll pictures - The steambocats are really badly made, no vents, no propellers, a shame considering how nice these were IRL

I’ll not worry about the propellers, torpedo tubes and the supplied boats will have to do. The waste chute I can probably rectify and I’ll see if I have a spare anchor somewhere. Harrysgrandad
Hi Jon Watching this with interest, this (or Lord Nelson) is on my wish list. I will probably just do it OOTB as well.

Faraway
The start of the base. Brass supports Hull painted, once dry, I'll add the boot topping. I also painted the raised areas on the deck. While I wait, I've applied the wooden deck, perfect fit. Jon
