Corsairfoxfouruncle Posted November 8, 2024 Posted November 8, 2024 @Mike I can see the photo’s. Great looking Panther by the way.
Marcello Rosa Posted November 9, 2024 Posted November 9, 2024 Your weathering looks just right. This was one of the first kits I built, and got me hooked in the hobby. I did make the silly choice of building the version with the red lightning bolt coming from the nose, which was a bit of a challenge for a beginner model combined with the flimsy decals that came with my kit. Restoring that was a good learning opportunity about masking bit by bit...https://www.marcellorosa.com/1-48-f9f-2-panther
basket Posted November 9, 2024 Posted November 9, 2024 What a lovely result ! It was worth the effort ! Your cat is splendid !
RoscoeRedThree Posted November 15, 2024 Posted November 15, 2024 Where did you find the two figures? I know they are not part of the Trumpeter set. I just built a Korean War F-80C and a F4U-4 and need little men to man them
russ c Posted November 15, 2024 Posted November 15, 2024 Superb build, finish and dio`, really nice work
Flamingo Posted November 15, 2024 Posted November 15, 2024 Really great work! Take some photos from scale eye level with a realistic background and nobody would tell it's a model. Joachim

What stands out to me is the fact Trumpeter appears to have gotten the canopy framing right where Revell/Monogram didn't at least on the front end. Nor only.. The type is not shown in the title. Trumpeter did a mix of both types. Front part as -5, Back part as -2. https://tailspintopics.blogspot.com/2009/10/grumman-panther.html Some documents made the same mistake taking a lengthened -2 as a base and adding a further section for the-5 : https://mikesresearch.com/2020/06/28/grumman-f9f-panther-jet/ Some are correct, some are not : https://pt.pinterest.com/pin/1337074875215432/ https://pt.pinterest.com/pin/853643304345001324/ https://pt.pinterest.com/pin/ww2-models--5981411992054980/ As shown in Tailspin topic, the boarding steps are very close to the air intake on the -2. In the case of a -5, a wing fence is also missing. Edited November 15, 2024 by AV O
