That has to be the best looking SEA schemed Phantom I've ever seen. I've seen a lot of them too. Absolutely gorgeous. Everything is perfect. It's not an easy paint scheme to get right. The entire build is beautiful.

That's an outstanding build! I just love the early F-4s and especially in the SEA and Euro 1 schemes and you've pulled this one off beautifully. I found the Gunze 34102 green to be bit bright when I've used it....but you've toned it down superbly. Looks spot on!

Excellent job !!

Someday I would like to make my own Spanish Phantom but in 1/72 scale. I have the Fine Molds kit and the Series Españolas decals, but there are so many models to make and so little time...

Congratulations !!

Andrés.

Excellent SEA application! Seriously, that is just right, not "un weathered" but not over post shaded ...perfect.

Great job!  I was expecting you were going to have it finished in the wrap around grey scheme, the camo is much more interesting.  Well done.

Lovely! Amazing paint job! I find extremelly challenging the metallic finish of the exhaust for this aircraft...I may need a drink to take the strenght and go for it someday

Excellent work, congrats!

Fantastyczna robota. Piękne malowanie, nie wiedziałem, że Hiszpanie używali kamuflażu SEA. Gratuluję!

Pozdrawiam,

Marcin

Pretty sure the Spanish never adopted the wraparound camo before they retired them?

F-4Cs were always in SEA camo in Spanish AF, even after repaintings. They were replaced by EF-18 Hornets in 1989. If you see all-grey scheme on Spanish Phantom, it must be one of RF-4Cs (reco version), which were used until 2002.

F-4C no. C.12-26 is preserved in Barcelona-Sabadell museum now, but her camo pattern is little different than in early 1980s.

Hi.

First of all I want to ask, what is wraparound camouflage? I have never heard that designation for any type of camouflage, Spanish or from any other nation.

Well, the Spanish Phantoms were of two types:
1.- F-4C, which always wore SEA camouflage. Some had white stencils and others black. The first ones had the squadron numbers edged in white.
2.- RF-4C, which wore 4 types of camouflage:
     a) SEA
     b) Europe One
     c) Hill Grey
     d) Low Visibility

For now I only have one Spanish Phantom in my collection, and as I told alex_stela I would like to have a C soon to accompany it. This is a representation of one that I saw in a photograph at its Torrejón AFB with the Low Visibility design somewhat degraded and dirty. Revell RF-4E 1/72 kit modified to be an RF-4C.

Ref: wraparound camo..... some later USAF F-4s had the upper camo continue to the undersides like this one.....in both SEA and European 1 schemes.

Beautiful Phantoms.

There was another F-4 variation in the "Vietnam" camouflage: some had the upper part of the port side tan just behind the cockpit replaced by the adjacent dark green.

The Spanish F-4C which visited IAT in 1979 had this variation and the starboard side can be seen here.
